v41.00 Known Issues & Pre-Release Updates

Hello Fortnite developers,

Update: Follow a Developer on Exit Flow
In v40.40, we added the option for players to follow a developer in the Exit sidebar when leaving an island. With v41.10 (June 25), we will introduce the previously announced change (40.20 Fortnite Ecosystem Updates and Release Notes | Fortnite Documentation | Epic Developer Community) to remove the Follow a Developer button from the Developer Profile Link device—the device itself will still be usable and existing follower counts are not affected.

These updates give players a consistent way to follow their favorite developers across Fortnite and prevent differences in how developers use the device from influencing follower counts.

If you direct players to the device to follow your profile today, you’ll need to update those callouts before v41.10 on June 25.

Update: /UnrealEngine.com/SceneGraph Verse path no longer compiles
v41.00 fixes a bug where using { /UnrealEngine.com/SceneGraph } would incorrectly compile in Verse. Projects that reference this path will no longer compile and should use using { /Verse.org/SceneGraph } instead. This change ships with v41.00 (June 6).

Reminder: Illegal Property Override warnings become errors in v41.00
In v40.00, we fixed a bug that caused incomplete hidden property validation, meaning you may see Illegal property override warnings. These warnings will become errors in v41.00. Validation errors will prevent you from launching a session and from publishing.

v41.00 Known Issues:

Live Edit
We’re tracking several Live Edit issues in v41.00, all targeted for a fix in v41.10 (June 25):

  • Using Refresh Session while the game is paused can stop the Escape key from opening the menu, leaving you stuck in live view, or cause the session to time out and return an error.
    • Workaround: Force close and relaunch the client if stuck in live view.
  • If you close a Live Edit session while the game is paused, the Pause and Resume buttons will appear in each other’s positions in your next session.
  • Switching to another project while a Live Edit session is still active returns an error.
  • After you use the Scatter tool in UEFN, the Push Changes button doesn’t trigger.
    • Workaround: Hit the Refresh button to update the session.

UEFN entering idle mode can disconnect Spatial Profiler sessions

  • If UEFN goes idle (showing “Press any key to continue”), Spatial Profiling sessions can disconnect and stay unavailable until you restart UEFN.
  • Restarting UEFN will resolve the issue.
  • Fix targeted for v41.10 (June 25)

Memory Snapshot button is grayed out

  • The Memory Snapshot button stays grayed out until the Spatial Profiler has been opened at least once during a session
  • Workaround: Open the Spatial Profiler, then access Memory Snapshot
  • Fix targeted for v41.10 (June 25)

Some Shotguns only load 2 shots per reload

  • In published islands, the Health Bar from the Custom HUD device may not display correctly. All other platforms are unaffected.

Fall Damage may not work as intended

Fall Damage sometimes stops working after the first game in edit mode, and may not work at all in published maps. We’ll let you know when we have an update or a fix.

Heading Now Typeface “67 Extra Bold” unavailable

The Typeface “67 Extra Bold” in HeadingNow is no longer selectable/displayed, which could cause UI issues in some games. We are investigating and will let you know as soon as we have more information.

Players may experience crashes while playing some UEFN islands

We are aware that some islands are causing the client to crash and we are working on a fix.

We’re continuing to work on a fix for the crashes that are occurring in UEFN islands. In the meantime, playing the game in Private rather than Public may lower the frequency of crashes.

We’ll let you know when this is resolved.
