[UE 5.7.4] Flickering/shimmering lighting on foliage (trees) - Nanite + Lumen

Summary

Hi everyone,

I’m getting persistent light flickering/shimmering on foliage actors (trees) placed in my scene, and I can’t pin down the cause. Looking for guidance on what to check.

What Type of Bug are you experiencing?

Rendering (Graphics / Niagara)

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Enable “Nanite Foliage Experimental” and “Procedural Vegetation” plugin in Project Settings
  2. Download tree asset (Tree_Baltic_Pine) from Megascans/Fab
  3. Convert the Procedural Vegetation actor to a Static Mesh (needed to place it via Foliage Tool)
  4. Paint the converted static mesh into the scene using the Foliage Tool
  5. In the editor viewport (not PIE), move the camera around the painted trees - no flickering observed
  6. Press Play (PIE)
  7. Move the mouse to rotate the camera
  8. Observe light flickering/flashing that occurs specifically tied to mouse/camera movement (see attached video)

Note: The flickering does NOT occur while navigating in the editor viewport - it only appears after entering Play mode (PIE) and is directly correlated with camera rotation via mouse movement.

Expected Result

Camera movement in PIE should not affect lighting stability. Lighting on the foliage should remain consistent and stable during camera rotation, just as it does when navigating the same scene in the editor viewport.

Observed Result

When moving the mouse to rotate the camera in PIE, the lighting on the foliage flickers/flashes noticeably. This does not happen in the editor viewport - only after pressing Play. See attached video for reference.
