Hi guys, i have a weird probleme where every build i do is fine and launch without probleme, but the shipping one has some issue at first.
In the begining it launched but some part of my blueprint behaved differently, and then it just stopped launching and kept freezing on launch.
I set up the maps so it’s not from that, i went through everything in the project, built shipping build everytime , nothing seems to work
Hello,
I read here in the forums that shipping builds are known to be temperamental. In fact, game developers often don’t use that particular build when shipping a game.
But this doesn’t solve your problem.
What does the log say when you package the game?
Well everything goes alright with no probleme, no log its just behave like its going to launch but it just freeze and hang it’s very weird, only in shipping build, dev and debug is flawless.
When shipping build worked the performance was quite good actually only one blueprint with one variable was acting funny, the transform calculation was dead wrong for a spawning object.
So i tried to solve it and it became worse overnight without me doing anything special, i had get display name instead of get object name, reverted the change the project still doesn’t launch anymore, i m at wit ends, reinstalled unreal …etc… everything done
When you package the Shipping Build, what does the log say?
Can you do it and upload the log?
I’m talking about the log that is inside of the editor as you are packaging the game.
well its just drop a warning for a material and thats it nothing much
Yeah, I want to look at it.
Also, when was the last time you updated your GPU Driver? Is it NVIDIA?
yeah it’s nvidia i ll try updating it but i think they’re pretty much ok, i mean i built several time before it just stopped.
Its only in shipping, dev and debug have no probleme i ll send you the log, i m trying to see one last time whats wrong, thanks for the help
A LOT of people are having issues all of a sudden with Unreal and NVIDIA (sudden crashing).
You may not need to update your driver, but until I see the log, I have no real information to work with.
g.log (713.5 KB)
I sent the log, i ll try reinstalling the drivers too. I’m on 5.3.2
Update: This is 100% related to nvidia, i updated the drivers now i lost developpement build too, same freeze as shipping
Ugh. Yeah, this is a widespread issue.
Can you roll back the drivers?
i ll try and keep it up to date, this is kind of crazy, i mean it’s only supposed to be video drivers, how come it cause that much issues
If I were to paste all the links to issues suddenly happening the past two-three weeks or so, it’d make your head spin.
Maybe I will, and you may find something useful.
In the meantime I’ll look over the log, just in case.
Let me know if rolling the driver back salvages your other builds.
Again, it’s around the time of this specific update these issues have been occurring.
I reinstalled the drivers i had when i began the project and it doesnt fix anything sadly, build doesn t work anymore now…
What I would suggest at this point is to Reinstall/Verify Unreal, because I had to do that myself, after the driver update.
This is very strange.
Links to people with similar/related/sudden issues with GPU Driver/Card around the same time of the newest update:
Also, with regard to the LOG:
Yeah, it looks good to me. Again, I’d reinstall/verify and see what happens.
thanks but i already did i m trying the build on steam deck…And its scary because developpement build works lol
ok everything works on the steamdeck, so the builds aren’t the probleme i need to fix this
For my knowledge, could you explain what you mean?
Well if i sum everything up, if i build dev, or debug, or even shipping, the build work flawlessly on my steamdeck…
But if i try launching it on my computer i get instant freeze, no 3 dots, nothing just straight freeze, i verifythe files, reinstalled, doesn’t do anything.
And it’s a very weird bug because even rolling back the drivers didnt do anything, its just broken right now.
But i think this isn’t unreal related, its nvidia i ll try switching to my non dedicated gpu see what it does
I agree with you; I think it’s NVIDIA.
I just didn’t know what the SteamDeck was. (I don’t use Steam, so I thought you meant something relating to Unreal.)
Got it!
