Hello Fortnite developers,
Here’s what to know ahead of v42.20: one behavior change, a few fixes that have moved to a later version, and the issues we’re currently tracking.
Behavior change in v42.20
From v42.20, the Specialized Hotbar component supports a maximum of five Quick Inventory Bar slots. If your experience requires more than five slots, you will need to create a custom UI to avoid unexpected behavior.
Updated Fix Versions
The following fixes have moved to v42.30 (October 1):
- Coins granted in-game may not appear in the HUD widget.
- The HUD widget updates with the correct amount after a manual respawn.
- Particle effects don’t play when activating the ability for fort_ability_particle_system_element_span.
- Sound effects don’t play when activating the ability for fort_ability_sound_element_span.
v42.20 Known Issues
The Birthday Presents! item cannot be thrown on some Prefab terrain.
- Players are unable to throw the Birthday Presents! item on certain Prefab terrain, preventing them from opening and collecting the items inside.
- Affected Prefabs include Background Sand Dunes, Background Snow Dunes, and Kevin floating islands.
- Fix targeted for v42.30 (October 1)
The Pick Up prompt for dropped items is not shown while riding a motorcycle or creature.
- When a player attempts to pick up a dropped item while riding, the Pick Up prompt does not appear, regardless of whether the item was dropped by another player or spawned from a chest.
- Fix version to be confirmed.
Like state on the island details screen don’t persist between sessions (display issue only).
- When a player likes an island from its details screen, the like button updates to reflect it. After they close the session and return later, the details screen shows the default state again.
- This affects display only; like counts are recorded correctly.
- Likes do persist on other surfaces, including the sidebar and post-match screen.
- Fix targeted for v42.30 (October 1)
