The rendering of the SSS material has strong noise.

When attempting to render a character with SSS material (and possibly others) in high resolution, it produces strong purple noise. Do you have any ideas on how to fix this?

Hello there @Sorennn!

From your provided screenshots, this looks like a conflict between Lumen and your humanoid model. Is it based on MetaHuman? Similar issues have been encountered in the following threads, please test the solutions implemented here:

If these don’t work, our next option would be a soft/hard issue, we can try the following:

  • Please do a clean Installation of your nVidia drivers, and pick the “Developer” version, as these are the most stable for engine work.

  • In Unreal Engine, adjust your values for engine scalabillty, to ensure your equipment is not under pressure.

  • Test disabling Hardware Raytracing and Path Tracing from the engine.

  • Finally, there are two settings to test in nVidia control panel: Go to Settings, and under Features → Overlay, disable the “Game filters and Photo Mode” option. After that, click on “Manage 3D Settings” in the settings menu on the left, go to Monitor Technology and select “Fixed Rate”. With these changes applied, please restart UE5.

looks like a mathematical error to me. the light and glow seems to only appear when the pixel normal vector is perfectly perpendicular to the view vector. it’ll math some random stuff for the reflecting light vector. i dunno why it’s purple, tbh. red and blue mix. in screenspace that is x and z. very random phenomenon.

not sure how to solve that, rn. the engies will have a looksie.
