Session Disconnected on Launch

Summary

Almost everytime I try to launch a UEFN Session it loads for some minutes and when the island loads on Fortnite it’s “session disconnected”, the few times that I manage to successfully connect to a Fortnite session I can only play it for one time, once I press “stop game” the session is disconnected again and I have to try to launch it all over again. I’ve been facing this issue for more than one week, and it’s completely random, sometimes it works just fine and sometimes (most of the times) it loads the island in a disconnected session, this is taking hours of my daily work progress

Additional Notes

I didn’t add a island code because I didn’t publish this island yet.

hi @JotaBolota

This was a known problem before and was tracked down to not enough virtual memory

UEFN needs about 64GB page file/virtual memory.

How to add virtual memory 64GB (64000)

I just tried it, step by step following this tutorial (tried twice, one time with 32000 and a second time with 64000) it did not work, I’m still having the same issue

hi @JotaBolota

Sorry to here that. When the new version of 39.50 has loaded try to verify your installation after 16:00 UTC

Verify installation and check your antivirus settings please

I’ve already tried verifying the files previously, and tried again right now after the update, still don’t work… At this moment it’s literally impossible to test it, I’ve tried several times to launch session since the update and a little bit before it and simply can’t do… Everytime that Fortnite loads the island immediately I see “Session disconnected”

I really don’t know what none of this means, but maybe it can help finding a solution to this problem

hi its a network error

Do you have a antivirus product which includes networking products like zone alarm DO NOT use a VPN product as Epic often blocks these

You will need to install UEFN with Administrator privileges to unblock all the gateway firewall setting on Windows 11

UEFN will not install correctly from Launcher on any Windows 11 (eleven) version needs to run Elevated "Run As Administrator - General / Issues and Bug Reporting - Epic Developer Community Forums

Then its just a matter of finding why the network disconnects

I uninstalled UEFN and installed it again and launched it for the first time running as admin following the tutorial, it still didn’t work… I hardly believe it’s something related to network, even though the output log says so, because it didn’t happened before… I’ve been working on this project for some months, and it started happening some weeks ago, until yesterday I still managed to successfully play test it on live edit in Fortnite (after several trials), but today I can’t, I’ve tried so many times and it never works…

I just tried opening a older smaller project in UEFN and it works just fine with this older project, but still never works properly on my current project, I don’t know if it’s a memory issue or something, but doesn’t look like a network problem since it only happens with this specific project…

Update with good and bad news, good news: I’m finally able to launch session properly after I enabled all permissions to Fortnite and UEFN on Firewall. bad news: it still disconnects after I stop the game, so I have to launch it all over again after.

edit: I also can’t launch a memory calculation as well, session disconnects when I try (Just did it right now)

Thats good news the problem many be similar to this problem that happened to me as well same problem with memory calculation.

My way around this is to use an Android mobile phone (example old Samsung Galaxy 10)

Load Fortnite onto phone, open lobby on phone select on UEFN on the dots Launch …

select Connect Console

Click Launch and the game starts on phone, Click red Stop Game then select Memory Calculation, which happens on phone and transfers to UEFN about about 3 minutes.

This works on any console device Xbox One , Nintendo Switch 1 etc

Well at least its sort of working  most of the time

I was completely unable to launch session once more, so I noticed it all started happen after my memory usage surpassed the 100k limit, it was about 102k at that time, so I tried to just move some stuff around and when I reduced to about 100k I could launch session again, so I noticed that this was the main reason, then I optimized my project and reach about 95k memory, now I can launch session and run a memory calculation with no problem, the session still disconnects after I stop game, I didn’t fix my problem, but here’s the report of this new bug anyway, thanks for trying to help anyway
