Revision Control - Checking in often & super slow after Simpson Season Update

@Long_Johns42 Very sorry you’re hitting this issue. When the issue you’re observing appears, could you also zip and send me your URC and UEFN logs? You can find them here (C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\UnrealEditorFortnite\Saved\Logs, and you can send them to me here or in discord at epic_garren.

A screen recording of the issue happening would also be very helpful if possible. Thank you!

Same here, also following post.

@Dormikon please also send me your URC and UEFN logs. You can find them here (C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\UnrealEditorFortnite\Saved\Logs,and you can zip the folder and send them to me here or in discord at epic_garren.

Hi @gxg_work I attached the zipped log folder. I hope the log files go back a few days because I disabled revision control this morning in order to keep working on the map. I just tried to enable it again to get a fresh log, but it is completely stuck, the loading bar blinking and ending with error “server not available”.

HJi @gxg_work , Good news, revision control is back online this evening, and it seems very fast, too.

@Dormikon Thanks! and very glad to hear all is back in order for you. So you are also not seeing the lag initially reported in this thread anymore?

Did you restart the editor or log out/log into UEFN between when you were seeing “server not available” and it working again? Sometimes this error could be due to your authorization token expiring.

Good morning @gxg_work,

I guess I was celebrating too early, revision control is down again this morning ( “Server unavailable”).

I attached the log file from today. Could this in any way be related to the ongoing matchmaking error I am getting?

@Dormikon as this is a separate issue than this thread is about, can you reach out to me on discord at epic_garren so we can triage this further?

Hi Garren,

I am in discount, how do I connect with you there?

You can add that username as a friend and DM me

Hi @gxg_work ,

Revision control is still working flawlessly. This ticket can be closed. Thanks for your help!

Still a problem. Every time I add a prop UEFN frezees

Hi,

You will need to log a new issue as this is , not about the topic title “ prop UEFN frezees” is not about Revision Control

Epic Support in the past post said

The “prop freeze” issue in UEFN can stem from various causes, ranging from device settings to performance issues or software bugs. Here are the common fixes and troubleshooting steps:

Fixes for Props Using Prop Mover or Sequencer Devices

If the freezing happens when you are using Prop Mover devices or Cinematic Sequencers to animate props, try these solutions:

  • Trigger with a Timer: Instead of having a button or another device directly activate a prop mover, have the initial device trigger a Timer Device. The timer then activates the prop mover. This workaround can prevent glitches where direct activation causes the mover to stop working properly.

  • Avoid Cluttering Events: Overloading the On Movement Finish event with too many actions can disrupt the prop’s movement entirely. Simplify the events triggered at the end of the movement.

  • Set “Enabled During Phase” to None: In the Prop Mover’s settings, change the Enabled During Phase option from Gameplay to None, and use a trigger device to enable it when needed. This has resolved the issue for some users, though not all.

  • Ensure Correct Prop Orientation: Prop movers may try to “correct” a prop’s rotation to its original imported orientation if it was rotated before the mover was applied. The prop should be in the orientation it was created with to prevent unexpected rotation or freezing.

  • Check Loop Playback Settings: If using a Level Sequence in a Cinematic Sequence device, ensure the Loop Playback and Auto Play options are correctly configured and that the Finish Completion State Override option is set to Force Restore State for continuous movement.

General Performance and Editor Fixes

If the entire UEFN editor or play session is freezing, the issue is likely performance- or software-related:

  • Force Close and Reopen UEFN: A simple restart of the editor can often clear stuck states.

  • Use DirectX 11: Launch UEFN in DirectX 11 mode instead of DirectX 12, as DX11 is often more stable. You can do this by adding -DX11 to the launch options in the Epic Games Launcher.

  • Clear Shader Cache: Clearing the local shader cache can fix stuttering and freezing issues. This involves deleting specific cache folders for your graphics card (NVIDIA or AMD) within the AppData\Local and AppData\LocalLow directories.

  • Remove Local Derived Data: Deleting the local Intermediate or DerivedDataCache folder inside your project directory can help clear stuck configurations (back up your project first).

  • Reduce Resource Usage: Using fewer item spawners or offsetting their initialization times can help with freezing at the start of a round.

  • Update Drivers and Software: Ensure your operating system, graphics drivers, and the Fortnite game/UEFN editor are all updated to the latest versions.

Glad things are working well for you @Dormikon. We’ll leave this thread open for now though as the core issue initially reported here was different from the one you were experiencing.

Rest assured for others following along, this topic is not closed, and we are still investigating why some users are experiencing a lag when the the UI communicating URC’s background processes is visible.

We’re turning off that interface in the next release, but please let us know if you continue to experience any lag thereafter.

@Long_Johns42 @ChoHO @davidpkami Just checking in - with today’s release have you noticed any improvement in the lag you were seeing related to revision control?

Sorry, just seeing this now! The revision control is better than what it was, but now it’s super slow to load initially. Anytime I try to duplicate an asset, it freezes for a solid 5-10 seconds which was sort of the issue I was having when I initially posted this. In general, my map is now super sluggish/laggy and I never experienced that before the update. I added you as a friend on discord so we can chat through it. Thanks
