Summary
The Post Process Device is currently unreliable in multiplayer environments. It behaves inconsistently across players, can enable when it should be disabled, and fails to apply for Join-In-Progress players. This issue was previously reported in early 2025, but those threads are now locked and can no longer be updated or upvoted, and the problem remains unaddressed as of today.

Steps to Reproduce
- Place a Post Process Device
- Set: Enabled During Phase → None
- Bind a trigger (e.g., Button Device or input like key press) to enable the effect
- Start a multiplayer session
- Have: Player 1 join at start, Player 2 join in progress (JIP)
- Trigger the Post Process Effect
Additional Scenario:
- Start multiple sessions or requeue into the same map to observe inconsistent behavior on spawn
Expected Result
- Post Process effects should:
- Respect their enabled/disabled state
- Apply consistently to all intended players
- Work for Join-In-Progress players when triggered after they join
- Behave the same across sessions
Observed Result
- Effects are inconsistent:
- Some players see the effect when it should be disabled
- Some players never receive the effect when enabled
- Join-In-Progress players:
- Do not receive the effect if triggered after they join
- Behavior varies between sessions (non-deterministic)
- In edit sessions:
- Effects are always enabled on first launch and require restarting the game session

Additional Notes
This issue has been reported previously but is still occurring:
- Previous report (Feb 2025): Post Process Volume is Bugged and Doesn't Work Consistently
- Previous report (Jan 2025): Post Process can't be enabled for Players who Join In Progress
Credit to the original reporters - both issues are still reproducible. Created this new report since theirs are now locked.
Impact:
- Breaks core gameplay mechanics (e.g., night vision system)
- Makes Post Process Device unreliable for multiplayer experiences
- In playtests, it is very common for at least one player per session to be affected, and sometimes entire lobbies fail to receive the effect
Repro reliability:
- Occurs frequently in multiplayer sessions
- Requeuing the same map can produce different results each time
