Opacity on Subsurface material is messing up my shadows.

Hi
So I just jumped into UE5 a week or so ago so maybe its a stupid problem but here it is:
I am trying to make snow a material with SS and use the opacity to control the radius/distance. The thing is that it really messes up my soft shadows. It looks as if a hard shadow is overlaid over my soft shadow. It’s as if the SS only affects the areas that are directly lit by a light. I get no such problem when I either set the material back to Def Lit or turn the opacity to 0.
Would love to get some help on that.

Also a bonus question!
It’s a somewhat procedural material that applies snow on top of surfaces. I wanted to add some displacement/tessellation to it but it seems to be gone from UE5 (why… just dont take away the option -_-) I saw that you can enable the modelling extension but that requires a raster/non procedural texture i think. Any workaround?

Thanks in advance!
