Lighting is extremey different in editor and in creative

Lighting in my editor view and in the start game preview is dramatically different, namely with emissive materials not emitting light in game, how cold I fix this?

Hi Ururk, Welcome to the Forums.

Try increasing your graphics settings when playing the game. Lumen (The advanced lighting system) will turn off in performance mode/low settings.

Maybe it depends on the platform itā€™s running on, such as a high-end PC, a current gen console, a Switch or mobile.

You can change the Scalability settings in UEFN to get a sense of what it would look like on other platforms.

It does change a lot.

Have you tried it on more than one type of platform?

I have set the play settings to Epic , but it seems indeed that Lumen is not working in play modeā€¦ However it says that the parameter Nanite virttualized geometry should be checked to get Lumen, but since I can not activate Nanite ingame , Iā€™m not sure where I can activate it, I thought it was set on by default? ( excuse the french in the screenshots haha)

good idea, but it seems the scalability change is not there for me ( and not under " settings too, weirdly enough, no idea why)

Thanks for the extra info,

The most important setting will be ā€˜Rendering Modeā€™ which will need to be set to ā€˜DirectX 12ā€™.

If you are already running DX12 and have settings on high, I think the next steps would be to create a reproduceable test-case.

For the in-editor scalability settings, there is a Cog/Settings icon in the upper right of your screen.

And thanks to you for the quick reply!
I am in direct X 12 and high settings, however when toggling the scalability to medium in editor the results do ressemble the ones I get in Play, so perhaps it is an isssue of the quality settings not updating properly ingame even after restart?

Hm,

I had my settings on ā€˜mediumā€™ (no Lumen) prior, but I was able to turn Lumen on and see emissive results immediately:

Iā€™ll test this out and let you know, I will find the place where to activate lumen on lower settings , thank you

If youā€™re not seeing the Scalability button at the top of the viewport, I think it means your at the defaults for your current platform.

They can always be found under top right menu called ā€˜Settingsā€™ as ā€˜Engine Scalability Settingsā€™.

Thank you for your report! Can you please re-post using the ā€œNew Issueā€ option on the Issues and Bug Reporting forums? Posts with this feature are connected directly into our development team so we can quickly get to them!
