Lidar/Point cloud generation

Hi guys,

I am pretty new to unreal engine and I am currently trying to generate point cloud data from a custom world I have created. I understand that there is a plugin that allows you to import point cloud data into unreal engine but is there anyway to generate point cloud data off of existing mesh?

you can use niagara to create points from a mesh and do various other things to it
