Hi. I’m currently trying to make an interactive VR gallery, but I’m having issues with the shadows on the gallery walls. They only ever go on an angle. I can’t for the life of me work out why.
A picture would be helpful
Sorry. I worked out the issue shortly after pending the post. It was an issue with the normal map.
I’m clearly not very good at lighting my scene though. It never looks right.
It does take practice…
More info
Are you using dynamic lighting, or static?
Did you make the wall, or is it a scaled cube?
Every wall is part of a single object I made in blender. I believe the lighting is static?
If it’s static lighting, you must have built the lighting?
This is after it being built, yes
Did you check the lightmaps in UE?
If the light maps are wrong, you’ll never get it working.
Open the mesh in the static mesh editor, and look at UV channel 1, it should like pretty similar to channel 0.
I don’t think it’s a lightmap issue. It was working perfectly fine a minute ago, and nothing had changed.
Please check. Every going weird after building light, sounds like lightmaps…
Ok, looks good.
Because it’s a large object, you probably need to ramp up the lightmap resolution ( also in the mesh editor ). To a ridiculous number.
From what I can see there, it looks like that whole part of your gallery is one mesh, not advised if you want to use static lighting.
Also, means your lightmap res would have to be something astronomical. Try 4096 or something…
I say it looks ok, but those white parts are very dense…
That’s a curved wall
Did you try the lightmap res?
Am I right in thinking the gallery is one big mesh?
The walls are, yes
