CREATORS SPAMMING MAPS TO APPEAR IN DISCOVERY

No wonder Fortnite’s dying. it’s got nothing to offer except the same spammed PvP maps. Imagine a new player coming from Battle Royale into creative looking to try something different, only to see the same recycled PvP maps remade a thousand times. It’s getting old. Epic should just make an official Red vs Blue mode at this point lol.

Time to start demonetizing these spammers and revoking their publishing rights (maybe temporary at first and then permanently if they continue)

This is not a difficult problem to solve and as it’s taking so long I wouldn’t be surprised if there are people within Epic who are gaining something from it.

Its simple just ban them. Imagine if every creator did the same thing. The system is flawed. Some more of my friends have quit now and its all down to the system. Its so one sided. Big creators getting bigger ect the small creator has no chance.

I like how one calls themselves LuxBot (apparently it’s a well-known bot name). They can’t be more obvious.

bigger creators more than ever are just copying their maps with slight alterations if any at all and taking any new potential new discovery tabs. but the spammers are the bigger creators on alt accounts that they bought, obviously.

Another serious problem with these spam maps, they are taking up all of the Game Titles and Creator Names.

It must be okay to do this… This behaviour has been going on for a while now.

Non of the spam maps bring in new players, which is something Epic wants.

Small creators, like many of us on this topic, are willing to invest and bring in new players from the monetization we’ve made from Epic Games.

I have I’ve spent the $1,000 I earned from the monetization on TikTok live streams with V-Buck giveaways and ad promo’s. That even failed because my viewers were saying they like my maps but there are not many players on my maps, I said; well, that’s the state of discovery for you.

Spam creators want to cash out and bounce. We don’t.

This is not spam I check his maps and none of them are 1in1 copy thumbnail is also different

atm 4 of the top 5 New Experiences is 2 accounts (probably same person or “studio”) Teeko account was #1-2 with same copy-paste spam maps for hours yesterday too.

Why is even RED vs BLUE still being promoted in “NEW” ?
I think they should ban all red vs blues from “NEW” section, because there’s nothing new about those maps, recycled cr..

3rd day in a row Teeko spam account is #2 and #3 in New Experiences, they have been in top 5 for 3 days. The entire top row is again taken by spam accounts. The popular release #1 and new creator #1 are both just a spam accounts:

None of the new creators are new, it’s just creators making multiple alt accounts. Isn’t about performance either cause none of these maps have good stats:

Also Kpop collection is absolutely flooded with the same accounts mentioned by op still:

Hi everyone,

Starting October 27, we’ll be testing an update that prevents multiple games from the same developer from appearing next to one another in New and Updated and New Experiences rows in Discover.

This includes the New and Updated row in game collections.

This is another step towards limiting duplicative games in Discover, and we’re also continuing to work on ways to limit the publishing of near-identical thumbnails.

Hello Flak, this is definitely a step in the right direction, but there’s still the issue of creators using multiple accounts, not just one. Epic should prevent any creator from having several accounts tied to the same tax or identity information — such as ID card, credit card, address AND phone number. This would drastically slow down spam and abuse. Is it even considered?

While I applaud this decision, it won’t change much without real enforcement against spam creators. Make spam creation an explicit violation with sanctions that can include a tax ID ban. Otherwise, they’ll just create new accounts and keep spamming the same map.

Think X, Facebook, or Gmail. They ban spam accounts and bots because it hurts the platform. Fortnite should do the same and remove spam creators for the good of the wider community.

I don’t support limiting creators to one code. That makes life hard for studios, groups, etc.

A better approach: allow one personal creator code per tax ID. If someone has a verified business (like an LLC), let them have one personal account and one business account – after verification, both managed from the same Epic account for simplicity.

While I appreciate the attempt to help, this is a handicapped solution. It doesn’t slow down multi-account creators at all. Your future attempt to limit near-identical TN’s will be side-stepped by making TN’s less similar and its back to the same thing. Multi-account creators will continue to have free reign spamming accounts.

Why is EPIC so averse to taking real action? Account bans and/or suspensions and forfeiture of earnings.

Discovery is a mess, it will never be fixed.

Before 2024, we had the best discovery system.

Hey Flak, appreciate the reply.

Its great that Epic is taking some action against this, however it is nowhere near enough IMO.

These spammers have been doing this for years, they actively work AGAINST Epic to exploit and gain as much money as possible from you. The issue isn’t primarily people appearing side by side with duplicates (although that is an issue) the issue is how these kinds of maps are featured so heavily in discovery due to them seemingly appearing as “NEW”

If Epic has no genuine way of telling whether a map is a duplicate or not, then they should invest in a FAR better reporting system that specifically targets offenses committed by map makers.

You have so many people in this community (like this thread for example) who are reporting spammers, sending images, giving proof.

If you work WITH us, we can help you to find and target these spammers, which Epic can then take action on.

Such as banning their IP address, preventing that tax info from being used again (which would basically prevent them being paid even if they set up alt accounts)

Whilst we do appreciate the work Epic puts in against this, we have had to deal with this issue for YEARS now.

These spammers don’t care for your rules, they don’t care about a “fair” ecosystem. They just want to exploit your platform, make loads of money, and then leave.

If you want the community to take you seriously, we need stronger action on this issue.

We appreciate the replies and ideas, and look forward to hopefully helping Epic fight this issue!

Just a few thoughts on this:

If a creator has a few new updates on different legit maps they will be affected by this new rule? That doesn’t seem right.

If a creator is posting duplicate maps they can still appear but might have another creators maps in between the thumbnails? That doesn’t seem to help anything.

If a creator is posting duplicate maps from different accounts those maps will not be affected.

I’m happy to see Epic trying to come up with solutions to these issues but I honestly don’t see how this rule change will help anything at all; and can possibly negatively affect honest creators at the same time. I’m trying to keep this conversation constructive so we can keep on addressing the core issues. If any of my assumptions are incorrect can someone correct me?

I duplicate maps, it saves my time rebuilding a whole system again. My maps and game play are all different from each other (apart from two, but still have different themes and challenges). The system I built is a solid system that just works and it’s easier for me to pinpoint bugs or bugs on every Fortnite updates.

Me and other creators who duplicate our maps are not out here trying to do this with multiple accounts with the same thumbnails like these spammers.

This has now got me thinking. Some of my maps haven’t even got a taste of discovery, if this happens does this mean my maps will never see discovery? All because it has been duplicated?

It really isn’t hard to tell when looking my thumbnails and playing on my maps, they all have different gameplays etc…

If this is the case, then it looks like my only option will be to pay to be on discovery. But I will lose on that because creators have to bid for the slot. I ain’t gonna outbid a top 0.5% creator.

Over 60k creators and over 400k maps. Only 7900 are currently being played on. It’s gotten out of control.

This new system feels increasingly restrictive across the creator ecosystem. It gives the impression that having multiple active maps is being discouraged, pushing teams to focus on just one or two projects. Many creators invest significant time updating several maps each week, yet that effort now feels punished rather than rewarded. There’s a growing need for clarity on what Epic truly wants from creators. Should teams scale back and abandon their other projects?

While addressing bad actors is necessary, the broad measures currently in place are unintentionally restricting legitimate creators. A more specialized, focused approach would better support those contributing positively to the ecosystem.

This is another one of many problems. I know a few creators who have spent months making a new map only for it to not get any discovery time for over 3 months.

However, when they update the first 3 maps they made, the maps go one new and updated (for 20 minutes). Their 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th map etc… Don’t get any discovery time on first publish and 20 over updates after.

I’ve made new accounts myself to see if my map will go on discovery, it did.

Problem, I don’t want 20 accounts.

So why is having one account with many maps with different genres being punished?
