Just checked out your links in your SIG, (because I am slow like that), nice stuff. I think I watched your video’s before, but have to do it again sometime as I want to do a dedicated server build with this. And the art is nice, I haven’t even’t got that far in the learning process, and frankly I fear it a bit.
Thanks! I got a few videos on UE4 and some on 3ds max. I need to take the time and clean up my youtube channel. If you ever need help with art or what ever it might be, I would be more than happy to help out. I really appreciate what you are doing here.
When I get to meshes and modeling, I’m gonna need a lot of help. I actually did a fair amount of 3D CAD work (Rhino) in the past, as I built a CNC router and used that a lot… but the whole UV unwrapping and texturing thing kills me every **** time.
Thats cool you built your own CNC router. I have always wanted to, just never got around to it. When I was a young buck I worked many years in a machine shop both CNC and manual machines. I first started out with AutoCad, then Maya, then MAX. I use Substance Painter and Designer for all my texturing needs. Sometimes with Painter you can texture your mesh without even using a brush. So you dont need to have artistic skills to get great results. Took me for ever to get my head around UV mapping. so you wont hear me saying its easy
omg you guys are great, here me at 50 re-training to be a CNC operater/programmer and you guys are already there , yeh uvw’s can be hard to get your head round but if you start at “making a dice from a piece of paper” then start thinking about cloths patterns (cut the seams of your shirt and layout the parts) once you get that far the rest is easier
btw had a reply from Rama, he said the large file in the intermediate folder is made when you re-build the plug-in, he says it’s safe to delete the whole intermediate folder before you zip up your project, just tested reduced to 250mb !! guess i’ll be digging deeper unless you completely remove the plug-ins then its 200mb !
It is really cool GeoDave that we all like similar things. Sandy learning to change tooling in VMC - YouTube me and a buddy teaching my wife. CNC programming is somewhat close to what we program in UE4 only using G and M codes with X Y Z axis. Big difference though, if the code isnt right the machine will crash and cost money. UE4 you can be wrong all day long with your code Ok Im done I dont want to side track this awesome thread.
I’m not far behind you in age Geodav… I had this morning free and was working on the key rebinding with Rama’s plugin. Ugh, what a nightmare to actually get working as it should. So I have another idea will work on it.
As for CNC, I don’t do or have anything fancy like that MountainDew, though I have about an 80" x 25" work area with about 6" of Z. I mostly have made LOADS of lithophanes for people… but have also worked on some grips for a pistol for a friend that sent plaster molds… and different odds and ends… my favorite is making a huge plaque for the HS marching band … which I have done for a couple years now… The kids really love having their name up on the wall forever.
I figured out how to get the basics down to rebinding the keys, just need to do some figuring out how to get things in order like I want them. Need to sort an array on two items.
For some reason I think I tried that, but will revisit as I would prefer them to cycle through once you hit either end.
Yep, works like a charm, I added the bits to cycle through Time Limit and Score stuff as well. Added a new blog entry for the ‘fix’. Thanks for the input.
Oh, and I have the key rebind stuff to a point that I am mostly happy with it, so probably in the next day or two I will add that stuff to the blog and tutorial.
Just fabulous arbopa! That router is huge I know who to look up, if I ever go to build one, I read a little on that massive 50 some page wright up Thanks for sharing.
Ok yeah Im going to go back and change the Macros.
I was playing around with Rama reBindable keys. Seems like a decent way to do it.
Are you a Vet? I have a good friend who was welder/machinist in the Vietnam War.
oh no this means i can’t cheat by usings arbopa’s project dl , lots more work for me then.
side note, i’ll be porting my game to use this set-up as the shootergame-demo is scubbied, so i’ll be getting the trusty old sledge-hammer out to adjust(bash) a few different projects together, unless arbopa is holding back and has a full project for us to mod
(only joking) your doing great
Yeah same here GeoDav even the cheating part lol, I have been using this to learn BP’s and use it for my Vietnam game that I have been working on for years. Cant wait to have these custom inputs. Going to get on it now
I see you requested models…Sir, I will be delighted to trade you models for assistance with my project…pls click on Sanctity Lost on my sig for pictures.
…Btw thuis looks great!
BTW, thanks to gmc I have the mouse wheel inputting correctly when you rebind keys. yipee! Thanks gmc. Just added this to the tutorial. Will be out of town tomorrow for several days, so hopefully none of you catch up…
