Wildlife spawners no longer have aggression

Summary

All wildlife spawners in UEFN only work on a local test. The moment you publish a playtest or live game they all revert back to not hostile. Lobbers, Raptors, Wolves, and any other creatures that used to attack players will no longer attack.

Do we have a fix yet?

FORT-1052445 has been ‘Backlogged’. This is an issue we’d like to address in the future.

there are a lot of developers that are dependant and use wild life to attack players and enhance there game my entire game was dinosaur based and this has completely devastated it. Lobbers are broken, the entire use is gone. how is this back logged issue? can you at least shed some light on if there is a different feature coming to address this? or its just that its not important enough to fix at this time?

This is a major element of my map. Is it just… not a priority? It can’t be that complicated of a fix. Fostering a creator friendly environment and brushing off issues that change a major operation of creator islands is short sighted.

I dont know how they triage it, I’m hoping this is more of a we have something better in store and be patient, but its tough to sit around and wait while your Islands main function is dead. A comment on the how and the why would be amazing so we can look a head to what is need to patch our islands. maybe getting more upvotes can pull this out the backlog i dont know.

This is a major issue for my maps. I depend on wildlife aggression for most of the challenge for players. Any work around to get wildlife attacking players?

Probs use an npc spawner it should have default settings if not you would have to use verse to create a script :frowning:

Thats weird the hive animation report has gotten a someone is assigned to it, wich is basicly the same issue as this

Perhaps this specific tick is backlogged for another?, usually they say this is the same as ##### ticket and link it so we can follow progress.

The ticket here i filed is being taken care of now

Also getting this issue when I play a private version but not when I launch from the editor.

Hello (from Belgium!),

I am experiencing a problem with wildlife behavior in my UEFN island.

In a local UEFN play session (Launch Session), everything works correctly:

  • Wolves spawn normally.

  • They are aggressive.

  • When a player shoots one wolf, the whole pack reacts and attacks the player.

  • They chase the player and behave as expected.

However, once the island is published and tested in a Private Version, the behavior changes completely:

  • Wildlife still spawns correctly.

  • Wolves move around normally.

  • But they never become aggressive.

  • Even when a player shoots them multiple times, they do not attack at all.

  • Other wolves nearby also do not react.

Important details:

  • The island settings and wildlife spawner settings are the same.

  • The navmesh and environment have not been modified.

  • I tested several times by restarting the game and the session.

  • I also implemented a Verse reset of the wildlife spawners at game start (Disable → wait → Enable), but this does not change the behavior in the private version.

So currently:

  • UEFN session → wildlife aggression works

  • Private version / published playtest → wildlife never attacks

From what I have seen, several creators seem to be experiencing the same issue. Because wildlife behavior is an important gameplay mechanic for many islands, it would be very important for Epic to investigate and resolve this problem.

Thank you for your work, and thanks to the Epic Games team !

Me again !

As a workaround, I replaced wildlife spawners with creature spawners, and creature behavior works correctly even in the published private/public version. This seems to confirm that the issue is specific to wildlife behavior.
