Im having some odd effects when putting lights near my wall surfaces? Its like it’s glittering even if its set to have no metal values and the surface is rough. I’ve tried lots of materials, even ones you get with the engine and im getting the same result. Thought it might be the post process volume but turning it off didn’t seem to help? Am I missing something here because it’s driving me nuts. Thank you!
Does it appear the same in your material editor? Try removing your normal map and see if it helps.
I’ve managed to fix the problem seems it had to do with the source radius of the light I was using. Just changed that to 0. Thank you!
Glad to help.
Hi guys,
I’m having a similar problem with my textures, and can’t for the life of me figure it out. I have a few different models(from Blender), and several different textures, and they all appear ‘shimmery’ or ‘glittery’, especially on my animated models. It happens in the preview windows for the models(in UE4 v.1.14) as well as in the material editor. I’ve tried using a specular constant node set to 0, and no specular node at all, with roughness set to different amounts from 1 to 20, and metallic set to anywhere from 0 to 0.5, all to no effect. I’m thinking there must be something I’m missing here, but running out of things to try…
Any thoughts on what it may be that’s causing my ‘glittery disco materials’?
Thanks, Heath
