Hi,
Still getting acclimated. I’m using the Blueprint 3rd person template and I set up a scene where I have a point light. After I build lights and run around I notice that the ambient lighting gets darker as I move towards the point light brighter as I move away from it.
Why does it do that? Where are the settings to tweak this effect. It’s cool, it’s just too dramatic by default.
That’s Eye Adaptation. You can find it’s settings under Auto Exposure in the post process volume.

you can also edit the value inside the editor under lighting modes(lit by default)->exposure controls.
it uses values from a cameras f-stop, summary, lower number = brighter, higher number = darker.
That only affects editor view though. You need to change the post process values if you want to set it for in-game.
I turn it off personally. I don’t believe it works appropriately and is more of an issue than a feature.
Great. Thanks everyone! The default is definitely more of an issue. I could see it being a cool feature when you get the settings right. Much better with it off for now.
