Just a quick question, why do are shadows on Starter Content’s Architecture not smooth?
Is it something wrong with my lightning, or the mesh? Lighting on a barrel or my character looks alright.
It looks like that surface is a 6 cubes, so it different meshes.
Lightmaps can be baked in that way because of lightmass algorithms, low lightmap resolution, preview quality build, and etc…
It is better to use one mesh for that wall, but with tiled texture.
Yes, these are 6 meshes, but I’m going to replace some of them with ones with widow or door, so I can’t use single big wall.
Then try to increase lightmaps resolution, direct/indirect lightning quality and number of indirect light bounces.
This can dramatically increase build time, but should provide better results.
It is expected behavior, and you should avoid placing seams between modular assets on flat surfaces. Alternatively, you can hide the seam with a pillar or some sort of a trim. Increasing quality settings, as mentioned here, does help, but never cures the issue completely.
Yeah, I found it out in FAQ already, thanks
