Welcome! Introduce yourself!

Hi! I’m Steven and work in 3D in Australia. I’ve been in archvis for the past 15 years but am super excited to be transitioning out of it. My role there has never been creative enough for my liking : )

It’s taken a few solid months of learning Unreal to remind me of why I got into 3D which was to tell stories. Initially it was a means to an end to get a demo project done last Christmas but the super fast iteration, quality output, and improving hardware prospects (despite many frustrations along the way) has got me hooked.

Sketching out ideas, planning storyboards, editing, the whole lot, is what I love doing since my first demo reel nearly two decades ago.

I have the starting of a youtube channel here which will be only for Unreal projects (currently very little there).

Really feels so good having found focus again after years of being in the fog, and pleased there is a dedicated Cinematics community to call home!

Thanks

Hi everyone! I’m Pablo, we have a company in Ecuador and we are doing a lot of research regarding vtuber an cinematography done in unreal, we believe it is the future of Vfx, affordable and fast!

Hey I am George from Greece.
Just dropping in to say hi.

大家好啊,我来自中国南京,是个刚进入影视行业的新人,请大家多多指教。

Hey, what’s up? I’m Brian. I heil from Los Angeles, USA. I do 2d and 3d artwork. At the moment, I work for Morality Designs LTD Inc. I am starting an Unreal project about an FPS interactive board game.

Hey there,

And I love it!
Here you can see some of my work:

Hi All,

I’m Dan, I’m a very low to no budget filmmaker and just been learning Unreal 5 (preview) for a couple of weeks now and loving it. I’m currently flipping between 2 courses I paid for the odd YouTube one in-between. Hopefully feel the confidence to start my own project soon. I’m looking to record on greenscreen and blend with Unreal in the near future, wish me luck

Look forward to seeing what everyone posts

Just checked your website, Cassini Logs is amazing. Very impressive. Can only hope I get anywhere near as good.

Hi all! I am Mike. Nice to meet you all!

Hey guys,

My name is Marlon and started my journey in the virtual production. Very excited to be honest since UE5 happened.

I am mostly specialized in CG humans and now making the step into realtime finally.

Glad to meet you all!

Hi guys! My name is Alexandre MEAUX and I am a French Cinematic Artist & Motion Graphics Designer at TAKEOFF Studios.

Still fullfilling my UE5 journey and I’m having so much fun right now!

Can’t wait to met you here.

Have a great day

My name is Paul and I’ve been working with UE4 and now UE5 for a couple of years now. My focus is making films with Unreal. Here is my most recent project:

Welcome to Xandu Prime

I made this mainly with free assets (Paragon) and Quixel, there are some additional mentions in the end credits. Currently I’m working on a larger project that I’m writing a script for currently.

Greetings, my name is Iain Marcks, and I’m an independent filmmaker.

Last year I attempted to produce my first feature, Endurance, as a “traditional production.” It’s the story of a young woman who ventures alone into the woods in search of something she lost, and is soon at odds with nature, its spirits, and herself.

Ultimately, our crew was too small and we didn’t have enough time or money to produce the results I was looking for. After some soul-searching and researching, I decided that a completely virtual production within UE5 would be the only way to achieve my vision for the film on the budget and time-scale allowed to me.

For the past 15+ years my focus was entirely on physical production. I’ve worked as a union camera assistant and in postproduction with film and tape, in analog, digital, and 3-D formats, but nothing has excited me like the possibilities of UE5.

If the platform is truly as open and accessible as Epic says, it really will be a game-changer, and I want to be a part of that movement. Who’s with me?

On that note, I joined this forum hoping to meet like-minded filmmakers and potential collaborators, particularly environment designers, character and object modelers, and workflow specialists.

Here’s a reel of my past film work:

If you’d like to know more about Endurance, or if you’re going to Unreal Fest 2022 in New Orleans, drop me a line! I’d be happy to talk about the project or make plans IRL.

Best regards

Iain Marcks

Hi Gang,

My name is James and im currently working in Virtual Production, my role focusing on UE and ICVFX.

I work at SIRT, which is a research centre in Toronto, whose purpose is to partner with groups in industry to explore new technologies, applications and workflows in their existing process and pipelines. It’s been a ride.

I’m trying to really grow an expertise here in UE, and thus am trying to engage as much as i can here. Looking forward to the chats that follow!

Ahoy-hoy!

I’m Tiffany and I’m entirely new to UE and Virtual Production. I’ve been an editor, colorist, and overall video professional for nearly 20 years now, and just ventured into the VP side thanks to a wonderful 9-week cohort created by The Handy Foundation and hosted by GRX Immersive! It’s been an exciting last few months. So far, I think I’ll be finding a home in previs/postvis and if I can find work on set creating/managing color, that’d be right in my present skills wheelhouse. I also love creating and modifying environments.

I look forward to learning from and engaging with you all and seeing the amazing things you’re working on!

Hi.

I run a small co-op of like-minded engineers, devs, and artists, who love to share. Just like Unreal Marketplace assets can be shared for development, I want to offer you an opportunity to help us develop “virtual concerts.” Please, contact me if you would like to hear about how we share my > 1800 packs from the marketplace. Reach me at pjschieck@aol.com, build-a-concert.com, and check out numerous “Unreal Co-Op” videos I’ve shared on my YouTube (search for Pete Schieck).

I’m also a C#, SQL Server, and C++ developer. I am currently an industrial engineer, and also build hardware solutions (kiosk, HMI, industrial historians). I live in the United States, and travel regularly throughout California (I could use some locals at the live events!). I’m using a Maya/World Machine/SpeedTree/Da Vinci Resolve workflow (16-bit EXR filmmaking is one of our ways of using the projects), and use Reallusion’s iClone pipeline for animation (including Unreal LiveLInk, which has a free version for indies).

Peace and love. Don’t spam me with horse ■■■■, please.
