Washed out material

Hello! This is my first post on the forum so apolgies if format is off.

I have game dev experience with Unity but am trying to learn some UE5 and figuring out the basics. I created the blank project and started setting up a simple scene using cubes with very simple materials, as well as the basic skylight.

The problem is that the material seems to be washed out by the skylight. I have a simple cube floor that is simply the color black using RGB(0, 0, 0) and in the secned it appears a sort of greyish blue. The skylight is low intensity and just the standard color, so I am not sure if there is a setting to chage or a different practice or method all together.

Thanks for any help!

Can you post a pic of how your cube looks in the default level?

So there’s probably some light source setting then
