[VERY CRITICAL] Organized DDoS Attacks Causing Server Crashes

Summary

Massive organized DDoS attacks by players affecting all game modes, causing severe lag and server crashes.

For security reasons, we have not provided a detailed summary of how to launch a DDoS attack.

What Type of Bug are you experiencing?

Matchmaking

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Join any game mode (Creative, Battle Royale, etc.)
  2. Play normally for a few minutes
  3. Sudden extreme lag spikes begin (teleporting, rollback, freezing)
  4. In some cases, the server becomes completely unresponsive or crashes

Expected Result

All game servers should remain stable with consistent latency and no unexpected lag, desync, or crashes.

Observed Result

  • Severe lag spikes affecting all players (teleporting, freezing, rollback)
  • Major desynchronization
  • Global network instability within matches
  • In severe cases, complete server crashes

Additional Notes

This issue is caused by organized DDoS attacks carried out by players targeting Epic Games servers.

These attacks are not isolated incidents — they are coordinated and increasingly frequent. While they are especially visible in large Creative maps, they also impact other modes such as Battle Royale, indicating that the issue affects the broader server infrastructure.

Server-related information (such as IP/ports) appears to be easily accessible through third-party tools, which may be facilitating these attacks. Additionally, there are widespread reports of accessible automated services being used to disrupt game servers.

These attacks make matches unplayable and can lead to complete server crashes. This is a critical issue that significantly impacts the player experience and requires stronger protection and mitigation measures.

Yeah, same goes for my map, some malicious players have been doing that for about a year now

For me, it’s the same: they regularly launch attacks against the servers, which are very vulnerable.

Furthermore, this gives malicious players the opportunity to attack the servers of creators they dislike, and even demand a ransom, threatening to continue the attacks if they refuse, as happened to me.

I don’t understand why nothing has been done yet. Epic insists that the maps need to be high-performing, but they allow this kind of vulnerability to persist, which is much more serious than simple performance issues.

The same situation is happening here as well. We are experiencing repeated attacks throughout the entire day, often during peak hours, which strongly suggests that these are organized operations carried out by malicious individuals.

This is becoming extremely difficult to deal with, especially given the lack of communication and updates from Epic Games. The ongoing attacks are putting a lot of pressure on creators and negatively impacting both gameplay and the stability of our maps.

There is also clear evidence circulating on social media. Some individuals are openly showing that they can crash matches not only in Creative, but also in Battle Royale.

This raises serious concerns, especially considering that the same methods could potentially be used during competitive events or tournaments involving cash prizes. If these attacks are already happening in public matches, the risk for competitive integrity is very real.

We truly hope to receive clearer information soon, because the current situation is becoming increasingly hard to manage for many of us, and the lack of visibility on actions being taken is adding to the frustration.
