Summary

Duplicating items by dropping it before the player gets eliminated for a split second.

Character

Steps to Reproduce

There are two players. They have a program to hit the IP of the private session they are in with DDoS. Player 1 has an item that he wants to duplicate it. For example, Gold coins. In the island below there is a system that when a player gets knocked down he gets a message to prevent players to drop items before they get eliminated ( Also in the island settings knocked down players cannot drop items ). Now here they use the program where they hit the private session they are in with DDOS to make the game laggy and prevents any devices in the island to work or it gets delayed. So they fall from a high place, and with fall damage they get knocked down and they don’t get the message because of delay ( lag ).
Now after he is knocked down and he has the inventory open to drop items. Player 2 gets ready to shoot Player 1. Player 1 drops an amount of Gold coins and before he gets eliminated by his friend. Finally, a duplicate of Gold coins dropped on the ground and still there is the same amount in Player 1 inventory like he didn’t drop it.

Expected Result

Player 1 must not able to open inventory while he is knocked down to prevent him throwing items to duplicate it.

Observed Result

However, the DDoS attack will make the session laggy and it will result a delay for devices. This will lead to make it easier to duplicate any type of items.

Platform(s)

PC for at least one player so he can use DDoS attacks on the private or public session. For the second player it could be any platform.

Additional Notes

In the video, we didn’t use any type of DDoS attacks as we described. We don’t have any types of programs or anything to break the guidelines at all. We just discovered how players did it and we tried to make a similar scene. We know its against the rules and guidelines. we made a video to demonstrate how it works with our capability in the island.

The main issue: DDoS Attacks on private or public sessions
Side effects: Players can duplicate items by hitting DDoS attacks.

This is not a minor issue. This could affect a lot of other island and their creators.
Thank you.

Deeper Evidence: Root Cause and External Tools

Following up on the initial report, i have gathered more specific data on how players are achieving the ā€œlagā€ ā€œCrashing game sessionsā€œ.

The Role of NetLimiter and Network Manipulation

While the duplication happens in-game, the ā€œlagā€ is often intentionally induced using a program called NetLimiter. This allows players to manually Grap the ip address of the server with the port to send ddos attacks..

DDoS Services and Telnet-Based Attacks

Beyond personal network throttling, there is a rising trend of players using external DDoS-as-a-Service tools. These services use Telnet servers or botnets to flood the private session IP.

  • The Issue: Because the attack originates from a remote telnet server and not the player’s own IP, Easy Anti-Cheat (EAC) currently has difficulty flagging the user directly.

  • Regional Impact: This is heavily affecting the Middle East (ME) servers, where several Discord communities are actively selling ā€œserver stressersā€ specifically marketed to Fortnite players to ā€œcrashā€ or ā€œlagā€ creative islands.

Evidence of Distribution

Attached are screenshots of several Discord servers that openly provide or sell these tools. These communities are the primary source for the disruption we are seeing in UEFN maps.

Known DDOS providers in middle east:

C2 ŁƒŲ±Ł…Ų§Ł„ Ų§Ų®ŁˆŲ§Ł†ŁŠ

and so on..

Proofs:

Requested Action for Epic Games

  1. Anti-Cheat Integration: Evaluate adding NetLimiter and similar bandwidth-shaping tools to the EAC ā€œforbiddenā€ list while Fortnite is running.

  2. Server-Side Logic Validation: Improve server-side checks for item dropping during high-latency spikes to ensure that if a packet is received after an elimination state, it is discarded rather than processed.

  3. Community Enforcement: Investigate the provided Discord links to take action against the infrastructure supporting these attacks on Fortnite’s Middle East infrastructure.

Hello, do you have any news? Because the servers really need to be protected.

Please take action quickly on this extreme problem. My map crashed several times yesterday. I have already sent the logs along with the name of a player to my Success Manager. After he joined, the map crashed. Other players have reported the same to me: The person joined and the map crashed. I have been experiencing this since last year (with a pause in between where nothing happened), but now it’s happening massively again.

Epic games should take an immediate action against these players since we’re now getting crashed out of the game because of it !

even the temp servers should be protected no matter what i hope my reply be useful since i already provided the most known ddos tools providers wich are selling these services / tools and make the community less efficent for us

Is there any information for us? Has the team already looked at the problem? Players report that it is stated that they are already doing this in BR and Cups… That would be an additional disaster for the game:exploding_head:

Hello,

I’m once again coming forward to report how serious the situation has become regarding map crashes and DDoS attacks. It has now been several days without any clear communication or update, and honestly, the situation is becoming extremely frustrating for us creators.

This is no longer an isolated issue: multiple times a day, we are getting hit by DDoS attacks, and it is now affecting many different maps. More and more creators are complaining, and for good reason. The problem is spreading, and it truly feels like the overall game experience is slowly being damaged.

At this point, it’s exhausting. We spend hours creating, testing, and improving our maps to provide a good experience for players… and everything can be ruined in just a few minutes by people abusing the system. Honestly, this is pushing many of us to the limit, and patience is running out.

And it’s important to understand that this is no longer limited to Creative maps: they are also crashing Battle Royale matches. There are videos as proof on TikTok and in certain Discord communities clearly showing these actions. This is not a small or isolated issue anymore — it’s becoming a widespread problem affecting the entire game.

We fully understand that some information cannot be shared publicly for security reasons. If you need additional details, I am willing to provide them privately in order to avoid disclosing any sensitive or critical information. We want to help resolve this problem, not make it worse.

Sincerely, this situation is starting to discourage many creators. We care about this game, we invest time and effort into it, but right now we really need to feel that this issue is being taken seriously and that concrete actions are being taken.

Thank you for your attention.

The status of FORT-1071521 changed to ā€˜Needs Triage’. We’ve confirmed the issue and it’s waiting to be assigned to someone to fix it.

I’ve been dealing with this issue on my island too. People are selling tools to disrupt Fortnite servers, and no one seems to be taking action. They even threaten island owners, saying that if they don’t get what they want, they’ll keep attacking the island until players stop coming back.

Hello, do you have any news? Because these DDoS attacks are awful, we’re experiencing mass attacks.

They don’t seem to be lifting a finger, it’s like they couldn’t care less.

Epic… it’s time to act… You can add as many game modes and new features as you want, but start by fixing the things that make your game unplayable and impractical…

I completely agree. They tell us to make optimized maps to maintain good performance, but they don’t address this type of problem, which is much more serious.

The game is full of bugs. You update it every two weeks, and we creators look forward to each update hoping you’ll fix things—but it’s the complete opposite. You don’t fix anything, and new bugs appear in features that have always worked perfectly, like something as simple as flying. You should focus on listening to us more and start fixing issues. DDoS attacks are getting out of hand, and matches keep crashing nonstop.

@Flak Do you have any updates? The situation is worsening rapidly; in addition to affecting numerous maps, it’s increasingly impacting battle royale and reload modes. There’s widespread frustration among creators and players.

@Flak Hello, I’m asking for an update regarding the DDoS attacks. The situation is becoming very critical, the more time passes, the more severe the attacks become, and they are increasingly targeting modes created by Epic like Battle Royale. Today, several matches were attacked, it’s becoming a real problem!

@flak Please understand that the situation has become extremely serious.
Some maps (including mine) are facing real harassment, and players are starting to leave.

DDoS attacks are spreading, and what’s worse is that more and more people are sharing tutorials on how to carry them out. They openly brag about it on social media or through fake accounts.

This is now a top priority.
New features like Star Wars content, karaoke, or voice AI are great, OK… But what’s the point if it’s becoming impossible to play because of a malicious minority?

Help us.
Help your creators.
Help your players.

Please, hear us…

The Bug Reporter will update when there is something new to report. It is being worked on.

The team confirmed this was escalated last week.
