VDB volumes not receiving GI/Lumen bounce light

Hello,

I noticed VDB volumetrics in 5.3 do not receive any kind of GI/lumen bounce light, is there a console variable to force this? Anything not receiving direct illumination is just dark and does not set in the scene well because of this.

Hello there,

I just happened upon your post here. I hope that you figured this out by now, but just in case…You can get UE5 to use indirect lighting by using the command line…
“r.HeterogeneousVolumes.IndirectLighting 1”. I hope this helps.

Hey @MADMOVIESINC ! Has this worked for your render too? It worked fine in my viewport! Unfortuneately not in my Cinematic/Movie Render Queque - Renderings! Thank you so much

Have you tried using sequencer to animate it for you? You can add it to the one and the add the Frame attribute to the timeline. Then just keyframe in your 0-X frames.

Alternatively, in the Heterogeneous Volume, do you have Play and Loop selected?

If you are doing one of these, then they should be showing up in your scene. Do you have any Post Process Materials at play?
