Just popping in again to say this is really impressive and, of course, absurdly charming Canāt wait to see your future projects!
Fantastic progress! As a noob, I canāt wait to figure out some of these game mechanics. keep going!
Oh itās easy, how about we make a deal??? You teach me how you made that beautiful Elden Ring world and I can teach you the game mechanics.
Made My First Attack Animation but Sword is Ham Turkey in Unreal Engine 5š
I cannot believe I can do this now. I have always loved games like the Zelda Series, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, Demon Souls, Tomb Raider, Elden Ring, Skyrim, Gothic, Dark Souls, The Witcher 3 plus more and I wondered how games work and I always dreamed of making games that inspired me. It feels like every day I am getting close to figuring them out and eventually making cool games of my own. I know this is just a basic attack, but it feels amazing that I finally learned how to do this. I cannot wait to learn more. Thank you Epic Games, Coursera and Unreal Engineā¦
Hereās my progress so far learning Unreal Engine, I definitely feel like I have learned so much from Day 1 which was mid January, 2025. I know I have a lot to learn but I am proud of my progress even if sometime it feels like a small drop from a vast ocean of knowledge. Thank you Unreal Engine (Epic Games) for your courses. Exciting stuff and I cannot wait to lean more and work for cool company and also make awesome games that have inspired me to take on this journey.
Iāve been playing MMORPGās for many years now and so combat fluidity is always high on my list of things to look out for. So the animations with the weapons really blew me away in the best way. Especially for just a few months of learning Canāt wait to see more of your progress!
I am so proud of myself for creating this game. This might be small victory but to me this has been beyond amazing. I had zero skills when I started my journey and now I have learned so much. I cannot wait to learn more to archive my goals and dreams.
During the playtesting, I noticed some bugs which will be take care soon before I share the game to everyone. Thank you @PresumptivePanda @The_M0ss_Man @TechLord @VINTERBORN @Mind-Brain @3dRaven for always doing your best to help and support me.
Thank you Unreal Engine (Epic Games) and Coursera and all the mentors for getting me here. I truly appreciate you.
Hello again @GeekManGames !
Your progress is always inspiring and I appreciate you for tagging me so I donāt miss out on your newest developments!
In your most recent platformer video, it has a very nostalgic feel to me. Iām reminded of games like Glover and Super Mario 64 but with a modern twist. The meat club is also a fun tough that has me giggling throughout the video as well. Are you continuing with the platformer style or will you be trying another challenge for yourself?
@The_M0ss_Man thank you saying this, you made my day today. I have to make 6 different game in this level before the end of this course.
- Action Combat
- Capture the Flag
- Platformer
- Stealth
- Crafting
- Story
Hereās the detail of the story if you are interested to read more:
The player takes on a trip to the Hidden Lands of Whamuba. The player meets the first NPC and finds out that the King and Queen will soon be hosting a game called, āWhamubaā (I made up this word lol). Warriors from all around the world come here once every 60 years to participate and have a chance to win the precious item called, āBlissā. Bliss is an extraordinarily rare medicinal herb that can cure any disease and stop aging. People pay an enormous amount of money just to get a drop for this special item and who ever wins this competition gets a bottle. People here live a simple life, they are always happy and welcoming and their way of living may seem weird to someone who has never been here, but to the people of Whamuba, the way of living means everything to them. This festival, which is held every 60 years, is one of the main ways they can show their way of living to someone who has never been here. The player has to win 6 different games in order to impress The Royals (King and Queen) to get this special item.
Player can see the health and stamina bar on top left and they can use items from bottom left to heal or use crafted item. Player can either choose to collect the coin or ignore. Coins in this game is used to buy stuff in the shop.
Capture the Flag - Player is given 20 rounds of fire shots and is able to collect more ammo throughout the level. Player can see what team they are playing for in the bottom left with numbers of ammo.
Crafting & Story : This entire level is co-related to Platformer, Action Combat and Interaction with NPCs. Player has to collect crafting masteries and find this cave located in the desert outside the city. In this game, the playerās main objective is to talk to all the NPCs and find out how the King and Queen make this special item called āBlissā. (Major Spoiler - Player finds out that Bliss is made from the Brains of Fallen Warriors)
Player job is to simply collect all the coins here. Score is given on top right. Coins can be collected throughout the world.
Stealth Game - Stealth bar is on bottom left with health and stamina bar on top left. Symbols meanings:
-
Unseen - Player is safe and ready to plan the next move.
-
Careful - Player has to be move cautiously and the enemies are alert.
-
Seen - Player is not longer hidden and has to either run away or fight to survive from the enemies.
First of all, the giant drumstick weapon is absurdly charming. Secondly, and most importantly, the platformer elements look phenomenal. Iād definitely mess it up just enough times to lose my mind Do you plan on creating a ādouble-jumpā animation or was this more of a final run-through?
Yeah, I wanted to have funny weapons. You will not believe this but my character stealth weapon is a finger and there is more funny ones too . Yes, the double jump is already incorporated along with the dash. I am following what the mentors are teaching to make 6 games but along the way I have modified things to my liking or things I find it funny in the game. Whatās the point of learning if I canāt have fun here and there
Thank you for your support and canāt wait to finish this project and share the game with everyone.
Today was a victorious day for me because I always wondered how health, stamina and mana worked in the games I played and now I am able to create them. Every small step I take is one step closer to my goals and dreams. Thank you Unreal Engine.
Hello again @GeekManGames !
As always, marvelous progress. I also really appreciate the story that you shared involving your lovely journey through this course.
I think your passion for learning is beautiful, and youāve already conquered a large obstacle when it comes to creation with a game engine. Finding a routine and sticking to it can be hard, but you keep taking in knowledge from the community and turn it into fun for yourself. Iām sure the process is frustrating, but youāre making such great bounds.
As the final product grows closer with each update, I canāt help but find myself excited!
Good morning @The_M0ss_Man and thanks for your support and being positive force in my journey. I already know my Monday is going to be a good day after reading your comment. I have two more courses left to finish my UE fundamentals. Thanks again and yes I cannot wait to share my first project to everyone. Have a good day.
It feels unreal to me that, after knowing nothing about Unreal Engine in mid-January 2025, and now I am just messing around with things Iāve learned, it truly feels amazing. Again, this accomplishment might look like nothing to someone who is a veteran using Unreal Engine, but to me it feels like a huge confidence boost just to mess around things I know to see what other results I can getā¦
It was so much fun to learn this basic projectile attack today. I have been learning a lot this past week or so. There are times it has been intense with so many different things to learn in 1 day, but my adventure continuesā¦
This lesson was probably the most complicated one so far. Understanding collisions was probably the biggest part of this course for me, because I was stuck for almost a day figuring out why my projectiles werenāt hitting the environment even after turning on to generate overlap events.
After understanding the collision and comparing the projectiles and environmental collisions, it became clear why this is extremely important to understand the basics of video games. I also created my first Niagara System into the projectiles and canāt wait to learn more.
This learning mechanism truly felt monumental to me because death in video games is one of the most important things in my opinion. Every day, I am learning something cool and cannot wait to see where my adventure will be in the next few years.
