Additional Notes

This issue is only affecting this one project since v40.00 was deployed. I am able to launch other projects just fine.

Following up on this, we are still unable to launch a session to make any updates to our map. v40.00 has introduced some major bugs to our game that needs to be fixed, but we have no ability to launch a session to test or publish a new build.

An update would be appreciated.

Hi,

I was able to launch the project on Saturday no problem (I did nothing different, just opened the project, hit Launch Session) and assumed the issue had been hotfixed.

This morning I tried launching a session (still no changes to the project) and the issue is once again happening. Logs are attached this time.

In case this is helpful for whoever is assigned the task, I’ve figured out a temporary bandaid solution which allows me to launch a session but is in no way an acceptable workaround. Steps to allow you to launch the project:

  1. Open up the Project

  2. Wait for the the “Preparing *” messages in the bottom right of the editor window to complete (see screenshot) Note that this seems to take up to 2 hours to complete for me.

  1. Once completed, Launch Session, and the session works fine.

NOTE: As soon as I close the project and re-open or do anything that requires those assets to be prepared again, I once again need to wait ~2 hours for that to finish before I’m able to launch a session again.

This to me suggests there are some assets in the project (Static Mesh and Textures) that are having issues with the latest v40 and take significantly longer to load than normal. I don’t see any way of identifying which assets may be the cause though, so if someone from Epic is able to debug and point me to the offending assets, we may be able to edit/remove/swap them temporarily until the bug is fixed.

Thank you for letting us know!
