whenever i hit build it launches the swarmagent which is used to build the lighting it never uses my CPU and Unreal Engine stops responding
Hi!
It is possible one of the options I tried could work for you.
Try to disable any anti-virus & firewalls (including windows default). Try deleting the Swarm Agent cache data (it can be found in the swarm agent settings) then restarting the build process. Try running as administrator.
as far as i know when ever i run it my anti virus is disabled
Hi Connor,
Are you still seeing this issue?
If you are I have some follow up questions:
- Can you provide your DxDiag? (Start Menu > Run > DxDiag > save text file and upload here
- Is this happening in your custom project or in a template project? If it’s in a custom project can you try building lighting in a template project, possibly FPS or Third Person template?
- If you’ve got a custom project can you try using a lightmass importance volume around your playable area?
- Since you’re able to bring up Swarm Agent can you also check the logs and see if any warnings are being thrown or to make sure that it’s still compiling. It may look frozen but actually still going through.
Thank you!
Tim
no im not i fixed it it was my antivirus but i dont know how to get it where i can have my antivirus on but it wont interfere with unreal engine. also the antivirus is avast premium
You’ll probably want to add an exception for your firewall and anti-virus for SwarmAgent.exe so that it can load properly. This is a separate program with UE4 that handles all the light building. See if adding this to the exception list helps. If not I can look into it further.
Thanks!
Tim
