@SenSeiVisual I’m sorry you’re encountering this. We’ve noticed this issue is affecting you and a small subset of users, but we haven’t yet been able to reproduce it and could use your help with some contextual information to narrow it down.
Are you working solo or on a team?
If you are on a team, have your teammates hit the crash as well or is it only happening to you/certain individual accounts
Did you have UEFN configured to “Open Last Project on Start Up”?
Could you share your local editor settings file with me so we can see if there is anything changed from common defaults that may be causing this? The file should be found at C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\UnrealEditorFortnite\Saved\Config\WindowsEditor and the file is called EditorPerProjectUserSettings.ini - feel free to DM it to me on discord at EPIC_garren
I do not even get to the templates. It starts to load the template screen and crashes before the projects show up. Unreal Editor (regular) launches normally, UEFN crashes.
Ah that’s great news @devil_dog1 - by any chance did you save a copy of it before deleting it, so you can send it over to us? It’ll help us identify what about it was causing this issue. I accepted your the friend request
I’m experiencing the same crash but removing EditorPerProjectUserSettings.ini doesn’t help. Happy to send over answers to the questions above as well as the file via Discord. I send a friend request
If you are on a team, have your teammates hit the crash as well or is it only happening to you/certain individual accounts? NOT ON TEAM
Did you have UEFN configured to “Open Last Project on Start Up”? It does not open last project
Could you share your local editor settings file with me so we can see if there is anything changed from common defaults that may be causing this? The file should be found at C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\UnrealEditorFortnite\Saved\Config\WindowsEditor and the file is called EditorPerProjectUserSettings.ini - feel free to DM it to me on discord at EPIC_garren I can share, but i tried deleting like above and it did not fix the issue
**EDIT: deleted the App data folder for UEFN
and it fixed the issue
As some folks have mentioned here and in other topics, a reliable path for resolving the crash is to reset all local user and editor settings.
Disclaimer: While this will stop the editor from crashing and preserve all of your core project data, you will lose any local editor customizations and settings you’ve made (such as the layout of editor windows) and some data cached for your convenience (such as your project panel being sorted by most recently accessed) will be reset.
If you’d like to proceed with this path, please take the following steps:
Open Windows File Explorer
Paste C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\UnrealEditorFortnite\ into the address bar and replace “[USERNAME]” with your windows account username
Press “Enter” to navigate to the folder
Create a zipped copy of this folder to your desktop to back it up (just in case of any issues)
After the backup is complete, delete the contents of the folder
@Amanda.Schade Can you please get ahold of me and walk me through this, I’ve tried and can’t find the file. Could you DM me on discord @ELUSORYCHIEF7#6835
@speedgate not sure if Amanda already got ahold of you, but the AppData folder is generally hidden by default, which means you wont see it browsing for it manually, but can navigate to it directly with the filepath provided above. Steps to do this:
open Windows File Explorer
paste the path (C:\Users\[USERNAME]\AppData\Local\UnrealEditorFortnite) into the address bar of that window
Replace “[USERNAME]” with your windows username
Press “Enter”
This should take you to the direct location of that folder so you can proceed with the steps provided.
