UE5 Foliage flicker speedtree

Im using Speedtree indie but after exporting any tree it doesnt matter if its my own or sample tree and importing it to Unreal engine 5.4/5.5 which is lastest version the leafs flicker and its kinda annoying i will attach video for you to see but i couldnt figure this issue i exported tree for Unreal Engine as ST9 file but also as legacy ST file and both have this problem leaf cards flicker for some reason and it seems its from the mesh because it does even if i put to the leafs some random material. I tried same file in older version UE4.27 and there it was ok.

Nanite is also disabled by default so its not from that.

Anyone experienced this problem? i couldnt figure this out for couple days alraedy

thanks

I have the same exact issue. I understand this to be a Normal issue.
Funky enough, this only just started to happen, i’ve been importing speedtree items for years now.
I’ll post if/when I find a fix.

Could be DFAO, make sure Two-Sided Distance Field Generation in the Static Mesh Editor is checked and close the window so it generates new ones.

Hey ZacD, I did attempt the fix your mentioned with DFAO, did not resolve.
For now i just disabled the normal for my Trees.
I am thinking it has something to do with some SpeedTree setting on export.

Upgraded to 5.6, no change in this behavior.
Very odd, just the trees, other foliage is just fine.

I found it easier to manually build materials and replace them in each slot. You can even make a master material that lets you quickly swap through instances.

The garbage that speedtree creates with their wind isn’t very optimized. I also ended up making my own wind system and applying it to the materials. Creating your own wind allows it to be adjusted based on the method you use to generate your trees.

It was a learning curve but it was worth it.
