UE4 Shadow blotchy on certain surface (please help)

This is the first time using UE4 so sorry if this is a dumb question I have searched for a solution but can’t find anyone with the same problem. I have a problem with the way a shadow is cast on my floor through some windows with a directional light. Half of the shadow hits a wall (which is crisp and perfect) the other half is on the floor. This come out as massive blotches. I have tried changing the texture on the floor and it still has the same problem. Any information would be much appreciated!

well then, welcome to the forum and UE4:)

its not a texture problem, you need to increase lightmap resolution of your floor mesh, unless your floor is bsp then you need to reduce the value, this thread has some more info for bsp.

Thank you for the welcome and thank you for the solution! I can confirm overriding and increasing the lightmap resolution solved the problem! Now my journey can continue :slight_smile:
