I have created a new ue 5.8 project, placed a megaplant skeletal mesh Black Alder tree on the map, packaged it. When i tried to play it, it didn’t work, it crashed to the desktop. Is something is wrong with these trees?
I have did the same process in UE 5.7, and it works. So looks like 5.8 version for some reason does not like there trees. Btw, i have tried another tree version, and its the same.
Same problem happening to me. UE 5.8 running, Epic Launcher Version. Any quixel megaplant on scene causes fatal GPU driver crash during offline render, it is not instant crash on offline renders but it is never skipped crashing any render session.
You need to open up the procedural vegetation (PVE) file. Then export the skeletal meshes again. It should fix the crashing.
I was having this exact issue with only the black alder trees. Even opening the skeletal mesh would freeze/crash unreal. After exporting them again from PVE file, no issues. UE5.8
This doesn’t work for me. Seems to be an issue for megaplants in general, and needs a fix!
Confirming the issue on UE5.8.
Clean packaged build with any megaplants crashes on launch.
Re-exporting skeletal meshes from the PVE asset does not resolve the issue.
Project packages successfully; crash only occurs when the packaged executable starts.
I can reproduce this consistently.
