The Unreal Marketplace Improvement and Feedback Thread

New sort/filter : by POPULARITY … to see what has the most downloads. I have no idea what RELEVANCY means when I do a product keyword search … it seems to give random results.

Thanks,

Hello,

I have been experiencing some difficulties with the MP recently:

  • preview images show very slowly if at all (i’ve a faily large bandwith and no problem with other sites)
  • the new layout (with black background) sometimes hides the price (using a regular firefox)
  • i can’t copy-paste links to preview video: a lot of links were always unclickable but at least i could copy paste the url, now i can’t, so i simply can’t go see any preview video unless i retype it manually

All in all i has become an unpleasant experience for me to browse and use the MP.

I’m using very standard hardware and software and i have a very fast connection so i guess i’m not the only one.

Regards
Cedric

We’ve both been visiting the UE3 marketplace.

I think ‘relevancy’ means how well the found item fits your search word(s), but I’m not sure.

I would really like to see some sort of system that allows Marketplace Creators to update their products more easily. I have to guide users through the process of updating currently, which is a task for everyone. Just adding Re-director functionality would be huge…

Thanks for the great updates recently, the Questions/Reviews adds a lot

your marketplace sucks the check out is a nightmare i hate everything about it i cant buy anything do anything all my projects are stopped because i am having with the checkout … i tried to buy some product on unreal marketplace and my credit card has been declined the same card i used to buy from the same marketplace 2 days ago !

I tried again and it not only declined but also blocked from your store !!??? i dont understand is not the first time it happened last time i tried to do with other payment method it worked the first time but second time it did not !?

I have contacted my bank and my credit card provider before i send you message to check if the problem comes from my end but its not

Consider www.UnrealSales.io if you need a wishlist. But yeah, who decides on all those limits? Limits on items in the cart, limits on characters in descriptions, reviews, questions and reporting forms, and worst of all a 1000 asset limit per account (which probably still hasn’t been changed).

is directly related to customer purchase demand, I add source of different art styles in cart, buy them when I confirm the art direction. The cart limits sucks, I need to browse so many time to get the same result.
The cart limit won’t help too much on server performance.

Verifying instead of re-downloading games in Launcher - Like Steam

We would really appreciate the that hundreds of GB games already downloaded would not have to be re-downloaded in the case of reinstalling an Operating System and Launcher like on Steam, where you would specify the download folder and Steam just verifies the files. (Downloaded content is obviously on a secondary Hard Drive.)

I could not found a better place for , sorry.

Very, very much needed improvement with the page navigation in the marketplace browser. Well done and thank you.

With Firefox 74.0 the UE4 marketplace addresswww.unrealengine.com/marketplace just refuses to load. The browser does nothing. It doesn’t happen with any other website. Everything works correctly with Chrome.

For some reason Firefox is now refusing to open the marketplace. What can I do to fix ?

I think it’d be really great if you could allow more than 50 assets to be in shopping cart at a time. Either that or add an asset watching . I like to watch assets I’m interested in purchasing either to see how they pan out with comments/reviews or probably more importantly, for any sales. So I scan my shopping cart on the regular, looking for any assets on sales and likely buy it directly if I’m still interested. So it kind of sucks when I’m watching 50 assets already and see a new one I’m interested in. usually means scanning for my least favorite asset and removing it to make room. It’s particularly rough when a big sale happens and many assets in my cart are on sale. Buying directly isn’t feasible, so I find I have to open all my cart assets in new tabs, empty my cart, add back purchasing assets, make the purchase, and then add back all the remaining assets. It’s usually a mlti-day process to re-evaluate all purchasing assets so I end having to bookmark all the assets to avoid getting lost.

Overall the cart is kind of alright for storing watching assets because it persists well, I haven’t lost any assets, but it’s a pain and probably not how it was intended to be used. My vote would be for an asset watching mechanism, one that allowed me to scan watched assets in one place for any sales. Then I could actually use my cart for purchases.

I’m wondering if it would not be a good idea to have each Creators assets in a folder under their own ID for example Quang Phan’s characters could be in
\QP<character_name>

would clean up the structure a lot and also stop assets over writing other assets because they install into a folder of the same name.

I own the
“Modular Medieval Town with Interior” https://unrealengine.com/marketplace…-with-interior
and jus brought
“Medieval Town” https://www.unrealengine.com/marketp…/medieval-town

They BOTH install into
\Content\Medieval own

if they had their own Creator prefix would not matter but they don’t so it does matter

A Wishlist like they use at Daz3D or Steam. I’m sure if you can develop the world’s most popular game engine, you can easily handle a simple wishlist on your own site, rather than us having to use the external site UnrealSales.io

Speaking of , they’ve been going wild with spring sales lately. (I know isn’t necessarily related to games, it’s just an example.) Marvelous Designer and Steam are also having sales, and Unity has their spring sale starting 4/15. I see Epic Games now has a Spring Sale for games and that’s fabulous, but how about those of us who also like to make games? Just super hoping Epic is cooking up a nice spring sale for the Marketplace too!

Thanks!

UPDATE: Thanks for the Awesome Flash Sale! Already dropped $230, and might buy more later.

I requested a refund for a non-working product that cost over $100 (Uworks) and still haven’t received a response. If something doesn’t work out of the box on marketplace, refunds should really be instant.

“Instant” - How do you suggest that would work in general?
If you have a valid case, you will get your refund eventually but Epic has to have adequate time to be able to verify a claim and communicate with the creator (from the marketplace Faq: “If the publisher is unable to respond or address the within 3 business days, we’ll grant the refund”).

Not suggesting it’s the case here, but keep in mind, that the creator is not required to update their product to the newest engine release - i.e. if you bought a plugin advertised for 4.21-4.22 and there is no 4.24 update, does not necessarily constitute grounds for a refund (it would be different if the product actually doesn’t work with the advertised engine version). From the marketplace Faq: “…] we only require that products are compatible with the latest major engine version upon initial submission and approval.”

In any case, hope you can resolve that one way or another.

@vlad.serbanescu11:

:frowning:

Similar to / @ and others abandoning the marketplace I guess. So much of what’s left now on there, is low or mixed quality imho. But after the 12 / 88 revenue split change, it seemed like it should have led to a golden time for marketplace sellers.WTF???

The problem in case is that the seller in his own discord for the product says that exact same thing (he’s not supporting it b/c other things pay a lot better) and i still can’t get a refund on something that hasn’t worked since last august. I get the revenue, but it’s their concern as sellers, not mine as a buyer who has spent thousands on the marketplace.

It hasn’t worked since the version I bought it with (a code error prevents the sample project from working) last august, and also hasn’t been updated since then (3 versions ago). The ticket was opened in November.

The way instant refunds would work is that they have people assigned to process the latest versions of marketplace assets, and if they are non-functional, requesting buyers should have it refunded instantly. It certainly shouldn’t take 6 months.

My guess is, between Event Sales becoming a regular, anticipated thing (with up to 95% discounts) and the monthly free offerings, many customers are potentially holding off in hopes/fear that products they are interested in might be discounted/free before they actually need them. It’s likely that the overall revenue took a nose-dive for everybody because of that.

Also, the OnSale section used to provide a discoverability boost, but now with 20 subpages of individual sales up there, that’s gone too.
