Would the new seller portal apply to packs that are on the marketplace or just for packs submitted after the portal realise?
[/]
It will apply to everything currently on the Marketplace. I was actually just talking to the team to clarify the migration plans about 15 minutes before you asked.

Thank you for the suggestion! I’ll talk to the dev team to see if we can find a more elegant solution to Blueprints than we currently have. I think could probably work with a mild limitation or two. More on that in a moment.
To explain a bit of how works, we’re very particular about file structure, because the back-end tools we have that processes Marketplace submissions, ‘chunks’ them, then delivers them to our content delivery network requires an extremely specific file and folder structure, and any files or folders outside of that structure is automatically removed from the submission as it’s being processed. That limits us a lot in what we can do. However, I think what you suggested could work with a tweak. Here’s the documentation we have on the file and folder structure we currently support:
So if the way you described is how you want to structure it, you could have Content -> EasyGame -> System, but you’d still need to have the .uproject and config file, and it couldn’t be simply EasyGame -> System.
I’ll talk to the team about . Thank you!

Hello , thanks for discussing with the team! As Kashaar mentions, the main thing is that there’s no references to the examples from the system dir. 'll be really easy for QA to test too, migrate the system dir, if anything from the examples folder shows up in the migration dialog then it’s a fail.

It would be really really really cool to see type of info in the Marketplace Launcher, similar to what the Unity/Apple/literally every other digital good store does.
I.e. Top Grossing, Top Selling, etc.
Obviously I’m biased here, but as a marketplace consumer, I’d be much more inclined to buy something if I knew others were buying it too. I feel safe with herd immunity.

Noted the biased disclaimer, and to be honest I really dig your project, but I disagree on . It simply isn’t a direct measure of something people need to know. A good UE4 marketplace should give exposure to everything that passes its QA, not give a leg up to content that is already established and doesn’t need it. That would only make it harder for a new submission to gain traction against existing alternatives, no matter how good it was. (Note: I’m not currently developing a shooter of the generic variety)
Rankings based on amount of positive feedback (done in such a way as to avoid bias towards those most purchased), however, I would have nothing against. And I’ve no doubt your project would be sitting pretty in that context, too.

I’m all for exposure for everyone, but I also find that the quality of assets seems to be ranked somewhat in order of the list above (excluding my own). SuperGrid and Realistic Grass are definitely worthwhile, Prototype Characters are okay, but I have some pretty extreme issues with Abandoned Manor and Post Apocalyptic World. There are only a very few that I would argue are ‘out of order’, such as Super Genius Weather FX, but I have a feeling that that would rank a bit higher on a Top Grossing list.
I feel like I’ve been burned by some of the assets lower/off the list, but I don’t regret any purchase I made that is on the top half of that list.
I’d like to see weekly top charts instead of monthly. I know if that was a week listing, Generic Shooter wouldn’t be near the top and some of the newer stuff would be on top. Anything that persistently stayed on those weekly charts would be an absolute must buy. The only way Generic Shooter would ever be on that list again now would be if it were to go on sale at a deep discount… maybe. The falloff on sales is pretty harsh, (at least mine is)

Well, then what’s about all the assets which are not in the list at all? Based on your logic they are all really bad then. My Minimap is not in the list, but I don’t think it’s an with quality, but just with the amount of people who need a minimap. Same with for example Kubolds animation sets, they all have extremely good quality for a really acceptable price, and none of them is on the list. But it’s surely not an with quality.
Yeah no doubt there is some correlation between the top sellers and good quality assets, but a more direct measure such as feedback ratings would be more accurate.
If you give exposure to top sellers you get a snowball effect; a lot of them will no doubt be very good, but some may find themselves there because there was no alternative available when they were released, or because they managed to get a marketing boost by some other means, etc. A top-sellers list just makes it easier for assets to stay at the top, whether or not their quality warrants it.
As for sales falloff, I’d imagine that’s mostly down to the current size of the market rather than anything else. Especially if you have people following your development for a while before release - most of your potential market will snap it up as soon as it’s available. Hopefully as UE4 and the marketplace grow, the falloff will become a little less harsh.
To combat falloff, we’re experimenting with a variety of different ways to start promoting content. Next week we’re doing a very large sale\promotion across several categories, for example, but I’m also starting to go through the community and talk to content creators about different ways to put their content and projects in the spotlight. One thought was to start promoting “pairing” up different Marketplace content packs that work really well together, like the Agent character with Kubold’s pistol animation sets, or the RPG Starter Kit with the Medieval Weapons pack, and things of that nature. We have a few more really interesting ideas for that we’re fleshing out that I’ll be able to talk about in more detail soon, but the goal is to try to minimize the falloff we’re seeing.
With regards to sales rankings on the Marketplace and in the launcher, is something I’ve been pondering for awhile, and we’re still discussing the best way to accomplish that. It ties into what I said above with wanting to make sure we’re making full use of what we’ve got. We’re building a nice little catalog of content, and I want to find creative ways to spotlight content released at any time so that it’s not always simply the newest content or top-selling content commanding all the attention. I’ll work on some more.
I think “Marketplace highlight” should be focused on 2 types of products(Other than newly added ofc)
Good assets that have not got enough attention(It’s a shame when well produced and viable content is overlooked by some crazy reasons)
Solid assets that sold and rated well. I mean, if assets are selling well and getting positive reviews - it should be somehow “highlighted” to incentivize other people to create good stuff instead of just “dropping” something on a marketplace for a quick cash. Currently it’s even impossible to sort assets by rating, there is only alphabetical order in web version of Marketplace.
edit: Oh, and if we’re getting paired, I want to be with
If not mentioned before having a wishlist could be helpful. I still have to build a new computer an install win7 to even get started with UE4. But I’m finding stuff that I’d like have an have no way to save an remember them.

Awwwww yeah. I’d love to be bundled with SuperGrid for a highlight or a sale. Although I mentioned early on to / about not wanting to go on sale, I’ve changed my mind over the last month as updates aren’t as strong for sales as anticipated. I recommend SuperGrid to everyone in Generic Shooter’s Slack group when they ask about prototyping/building out initial levels and many users grab SuperGrid themselves without my recommendation. If you want to three way bundle, 101 Muzzle Flashes and some of the Prototype/Dark/Silver weapon packs work with my asset pretty well too.

It would be dope, yeah!
Indeed, I was thinking that $15 price tag will save me from going on sale, but the purchases curve is too steep =/
Three way is good ͡° ͜ʖ ͡° but I’m afraid that bundle with high price will decrease overall sales of bundle

I am all about bundle. We’ll be doing interesting things like in the near future…
Lol, and are you sure they would sell them as a bundle or are they doing something like what amazon does with “people who bought also bought…”
[/]
Currently we don’t have the ability to bundle two items together in a single offer for one price, but that’s coming in the future. Still discussing the best way to implement .
Hi, great Marketplace efforts thus far.
Could you have a part of the Marketplace Item Description which has the Link To Official Support Thread?
way when browsing a marketplace item, one can just click that link and go to the relevant Unreal Engine Forums thread for the marketplace item.
[/]
Absolutely! is a great idea, and in fact, I’ve very recently started encouraging people to create and link to these support threads. We’re still in the early phases of letting people know about it and it’s up to the individual content creator whether or not to offer it, but I think it’s a very smart thing to do. You’ll be seeing more of that soon.
Can we have a tab or something with Purchased packs in the Library I have 65 packs in the vault I need 5 min to search what I want to use if I don’t remember the name of the pack becouse I have all the free packs that I don’t even use in the Library like Tappy chiken and all the others or a way to remove what we are not interested in.
A good ideea would be to have like a selection list where we can select like “show downloaded assets only”, “show all the assets” etc.

Cheers! Also there is a discrepancy between the Marketplace browsing in the Launcher and on the website, eg. in Launcher Marketplace you can’t see reviews and stuff like that? Unity has the unified system where whether in-game or on a web browser their Asset Store is quite consistent.
