@The_M0ss_Man Here is the next major milestone. Hopefully, the next one will be the completed film.
Hey @DanielMagyar !
Thank you for updating me with this teaser! I was so excited to see it and I love seeing the progress made. The transitions, lighting, and overall animation is so delightfully done! I eagerly await the next update which will be the movie itself.
I’m still in awe of your character design and love how you make people look unique while making them look like someone I can see as an everyday person.
Thank you for taking the time to ping me and for making my Monday by sharing such a tantalizing teaser! The Fortunate Son is shaping up spectacularly, and development on the project is progressing splendidly; keep up the great work! I’m sure I echo everyone’s sentiment when I say I want to see more.
By going back in time, can you correct your mistakes? Or are there things from which it is better to learn and move on?
nice job!
@JaydenCkelley Thank you!

that is a beautiful scene! well done!!
Perhaps time travel is one of the most difficult tasks in this movie. You might think it’s not hard because it’s something nobody has seen before, but it’s not easy. If you have any ideas on how time travel could be shown, let me know! For now, here are a couple of new images from the 70s.

I just do it, and more and more frames are being made. Frame by frame, nicely in order. Eventually, it will make sense and become a coherent creation, at least I hope so.
Thank you, love this one
I know it’s been a little over two years since you started this thread, but I would like to thank you for consistently updating us and not giving up on your short movie. By the end of this journey, I know all the time poured into developing “The Fortunate Son” to perfection will be worth it!
@Zezkaii
On March 16, 2022, it’s been exactly two years since I uploaded my first video here and started sharing official developer milestones. Although I started the project in December 2019 when I showed it to my father (he wrote the story and lent his face to the character General in the film) the basic idea of the film, for him to read and discuss. It was just a basic idea, but he immediately liked it. In January 2020, we were already exchanging the first versions of “The Fortunate Son” with each other, and essentially the story began its own path.
Initially, I dealt with the story and the screenplay for maybe a year, almost exclusively polishing them, while gathering a lot of concept images of 1970s American cities, Sacramento, both outside and inside, streets, buildings, cars, costumes, etc., and continuously producing and acquiring the 3D assets. The story slowly evolved and began to reach its final form. A funny fact is that just last week, the story and dramaturgy of the film changed because it wasn’t right.
So it’s true that communication has been going on here for 2 years, but the film itself is precisely 4 years and 3 months old now. Probably another year will surely be needed for it to be completed entirely.
So thank you very much for reminding me of this, unfortunately, I completely forgot about this birthday, and thank you for that, as it feels very good that at least one person is interested in this story and its creation. Last week, I actually reached one of the lowest points regarding the film. Nothing worked, and I had no energy for anything, and nothing looked the way I wanted it to… This is when I need to gather strength and tackle the task with double strength and energy. Perhaps this is the hardest part. Getting up from the floor every day. Sometimes I ask myself why did I start such a story? I’m absolutely out of my comfort zone in this work. There is nothing I could do instinctively. Every day is a challenge before learning new and unknown things. Sometimes I get very tired…
but then something always comes along that gives me strength, and I start again.
Your message is like that too. Many thanks!
Throwing a bit more support in since @Zezkaii inspired it. Hope we get to see more soon!
No problem at all! I’m glad I could help serve as a reminder.
It’s been a pleasure witnessing the development of “The Fortunate Son.” You’ve persisted through the ups and downs, and now the finish line is straight ahead. Keep pushing; you got this!
The General at the HQ | Coming Soon…
why would you need financing, you seem to progress quite good without it.
also you can release the film without any cost.
@Vollgaser
It’s funny what you’re saying. Let me explain things differently. I need money to pay for the movie. This covers things like hiring VO artists, animators, modelers, and VFX artists. Right now, I’m doing everything myself, so it’s taking a long time.
If I had two animators to help with technical stuff and two programmers and modelers, I could focus more on the creative side of the movie. But for now, I’m dealing with all the small and big technical problems, which takes up a lot of time.
I’ve been paying these other workers out of my own pocket, which means less money for me and my family. Plus, there are other costs like computer equipment, motion capture gear and software subscriptions.
I work 8-10 hours a day just to earn money for the movie, and by the time I’m done, I don’t have much energy left for working on it. So what you see as progress is only a few hours a day, and sometimes I’m tired and not very motivated. But the fact that I can still make progress even after an 8-10 hour workday is because I’m a beast!
Imagine how much faster things would move if I had a team of 4-5 people helping full-time! Despite the challenges, I won’t give up because I love making movies.
In short, the movie will be finished eventually. I hope this clears up any misunderstanding about the costs involved and shows why a realistic approach is needed, and shows that thinking it’s costless is just naive. Have a great day!
