Snappy Roads Blueprint Tool: Announce and Support Thread

@GlimpseOfDawn

I’m Still having the same problem that Eminenzz is having. Which is whenever I click on apply spline to landscape, it crashes.

Is there anyway to fix this?

Edit: FIXED. The solution was to turn off “Enable edit layers” for the landscape that the road is going to be applied to.

@Strider57 Thanks!

  1. You need to set “ASTL Offset” to -20, and “Z Fighting Fix” should be unchecked.

@Riderela

I can’t tell you that yet.

Hi! @**GlimpseOfDawn **I think I found the problem, but maybe.

BP_SnappyRoads doesn’t want to convert to StaticMesh correct. Converted one segments road instead of several road spline.

Hi @ALM678mb !

What is your conversion process?
Do you right click->Merge Actors, scroll down, check the Bake Vertex Data Checkbox, and click on the Merge Actors button?

Thank you!

I was going to purchase this tool but the lack of support for landscape layers described in this topic was a huge let down for me :(. Since I’m already using it in my project and I can’t lose all the layers. If you add support in an update I will totally buy it though :slight_smile:

Hi @gulopbr,

I will add support for landscape layers when it will be supported by Blueprint Nodes. Unfortunately, there’s a bug at the moment in the UE4 Editor: https://answers.unrealengine.com/questions/945963/view.html

@GlimpseOfDawn

I’m using 4.26 and I can confirm that the crash doesn’t happen anymore, my custom road asset uses the same “Apply Spline” node, however when I call the event nothing happens, it doesn’t modify anything, I still need to uncheck ‘Enable Edit Layers’ to be able to modify the landscape.

I just purchased this and ran into an issue within the first minute. There is no 2x2 intersection. I am building a town, and there needs to be a 2x2 intersection where roads cross. There is a mesh labeled as 2x2 but it is actually 2x1.

Please advise as I haven’t read through all these pages for help yet.

Also as a feature request, left turn lanes would be an awesome feature.

Thank you

@gulopbr

Yes, Editor Apply Spline doesn’t work with non-destructive landscape layers for some reason:

https://forums.unrealengine.com/unreal-engine/feedback-for-epic/1732996-editor-apply-spline-for-non-destructive-landscape-layers

I’m currently working on a different method to support the landscape layer system.

@CakeMan_Ben

I just redownloaded it from the asset store and Meshes/2Lane/SM_2Lane_Intersection001_2x2_Road001 appears to be a correct 2x2 intersection.

Try re-adding the asset to your project and overwriting the old files.

Hey,

I replaced the default static mesh by a custom one, that I made with the same scale.

But I’ve been having this problem :

Could you help me find a solution ?

Thanks in advance.

Hey, I fixed the previous problem I had, but now I would like to know if it is possible to unlock actors from the mesh extra, to edit variables on them.

I’m new to Snappy Roads, just bought the pack and love it so far. The only one thing I can’t seem to figure outis smoothing the cornering at junctions. The main issue is at junctions where I get quite quick, jerky and unnatural cornering.

I can adjust the splines on normal curved roads so they’re not so much of an issue. Is there a way to slow traffic down before taking a corner to smooth out the turns perhaps? Perhaps there is an option I’m overlooking?

Alpha is non-puddle/dryness - the alpha of 1 makes it dry.

Hi, I am making an 8-lane road based on available asset - I know in terms of vertex paint red is damage, blue is tar, green is dirt, alpha is dryness: but how do I remove those dark edges at the side of each mesh section?

Do we have any update on this please, I’ve tried to contact you but email inbox full it says.

This is a great tool but lacking this landscape spline system is bringing its value down. Be great to see this updated or a conclusive answer to your intention of support or not.

Thanks

Could anyone help me with this problem when switching to this mesh? Thank you very much.
UE 4.26.02

There’s pending update with added support for landscape layers. But it’s not accepted currently so I need to make some modifications.

What’s the problem?
