Hello There,
i downloaded the city sample from the epic market, and placed the custom control rigged car but after that car contact shadow is not casting. i also tried enabling lumen setting in post processing layer but still got no shadow.
Hey there @yashtanwani! Welcome to the community! On the vehicles mesh, in the details, are all of these checked?
Hmmm interesting! Are other objects casting contact shadows or are they only shadowed via ambient occlusion? Are you using a directional light? Are your lights static/stationary or movable in their details? Same with your car? If they are both static/stationary you need to build the lighting.
No the directional light and sky light is set to movable, also if I am placing a cube or any other object it is casting shadow have a look
and also i have car animation too
You might need to enable/generate mesh distance fields on the car model.
I don’t know what is going wrong here because it is also enabled
is there any possibility I can share my car asset with you?
t
It would need to be enabled on the static mesh itself, not in the project settings. You could also check the visualization view modes to see if mesh distance fields are working for that mesh.
I agree with Zac it’s possible that it’s the mesh distance field just not being generated. Here’s the documentation that can go over generating them.
I did that and it worked fine, I got shadow. Thankyou!
but it got converted into static mesh it was skeletal mesh before because it got bones and control rig also.
how do I get that? I have to animate it!
Also the course I follow that guy imported his skeletal mesh and got shadow already casting without doing anything
