Summary

We can’t spend gold in vending machines if the island settings allow infinite resources

Steps to Reproduce

Enable infinite resources to allow for unlimited building
Add a vending machine and set it up to sell 1 item for gold
Launch game and try to purchase item with and without gold

Expected Result

Players should only be able to buy the desired item for the specified amount of gold if they have the required amount.

Observed Result

Purchase only works correctly if building resources are limited

The status of FORT-727640 incident has been moved from ‘Needs Triage’ to ‘Needs More Info’.

Just wanted to bump this.

The issue is that gold (which should be considered a resource or currency) is considered a material with building materials. Not sure how deep this goes but it seems that whoever implemented this may have inadvertently made infinite build materials and finite materials of any other type mutually exclusive.

Would be nice to have these decoupled.

Just wanted to chime in to say that I agree. Gold should be a different metric to track and not connected with the other resources.
