Hello ,
I am extremely excited now that UE4 is here. I don’t have as much experience with game design as many others but I am determined to complete my first game as a sole indie developer. I started using Unity to begin development mainly due to the asset store, but now that UE4 will have a place to buy and distribute assets it puts people like myself in a much better position to create fun and engaging games. I look forward to learning as much as I can from this community and am glad I can use some of my C++ knowledge, not that C# is all that bad (sorry Unity).
Very excited to see these new features and the possibility for the various applications that this new UDK model will bring. There are many, many new avenues of potential opening up here, including the marketplace that I briefly saw.
Yey! Finnaly it’s released! I’m Cube, mainly educating. You can also findn me on the old forums.
Hi, I am excited to use the new engine and dev env! I am a professional software developer with lots of C++ experience, so looking forward to looking at the code too.
Currently using Unity with Asset Store items like ProBuilder for level creation. Can’t wait to try out UE4!

Hey there!
I have been waiting so long for a moment like this! back when UDK got released it was an exiciting move and day for any dev seeking a good engine to use
Thank you Epic for giving out the full source code, this will allow me to build my coding skills even further and extend the engine with many new things!
Hello dear developers~wanna be friends with you~
I’m a Virtual Reality developer in Beijing China~
Hi ,
Unity users here (Maybe ex-Unity we’ll see how it goes), I saw the deal jumped all over it like a fat kid on icing covered cupcakes.
So quick question is this $19.00 edition using the full version of Enlighten or Lightmass?
Hello !!!
UE4 is finally here, new site, new forum and all the new stuff, I am super excited!

UE4 use Lightmass by default. Enlighten is not integrated.
Hi I’m Saiboat. I said this about 7 months ago:

So we are supposed to watch a vid about UE4 and learn how to do stuff in that editor… who is this video for , why is it when they are not gonna release UDK @ UE4 like, tomorrow?

So this video with the GI overview seems to be different from the version we have, whilst it seems Unity is getting the full version of Enlighten and PowerVR… Well I never thought I’d see the day where Unity has the the advanced graphical features and Unreal 4 doesn’t.
Hi all!
I’m the main developer on Volo Airsport and The Aurora Wager. As a long-time Unity user who is on the fence regarding the Unity 5 upgrade fee, I am rather floored by today’s UE4 announcement. I will be evaluating it for potential use in my own projects.

Just compiled the source, let’s see what this baby can do.

The video you have linked is old and show the voxel lighting system developped by Epic. This system was removed for performance (and other) reasons.
Regarding Unity, I will not make any comparison, that’s not the purpose of this forum.

Well yeah, but before making a long term commitment obviously we have to explore our options ;)…
I’m still dead keen on giving it a go and to see what happens, especially after the time I’ve had making a large RPG game over the last six months in Unity Hint: Out of RAM, CRASH, CRASH, CRASH… More crashing :D.
Hey! I’m super excited they made this feel friendly and accessible! Can’t wait to make something.
Hello fellow enthusiasts.
Congrats Epic on the release, wasn’t expecting this quite so soon and with the droid support and all.
Not sure I’ll be able to adopt this just yet, probably one of those 6-month waiters at least but we’ll see. Curious to see how mobile releases go
Hi ! Day 1 sub here!
I got addicted early to UDK in '09, and now that UE4 is here, it has lured me away from Unity 4.x Pro right back into it’s warm cushy arms… can’t wait to get started (screw it, I’m not waiting! :D). I’ll be posting stuff that I make on here in and out over the next couple of weeks, stay tuned (or not!)
Hello !
I guess I am now an Unreal Engine licensee. This feels totally weird! I got started on games back in the original Unreal days, never got into it professionally though. Well, I released a bunch of UT/2004 levels under the moniker of “Luggage”, and one of them (CTF-Concentrate) even got distributed by Epic in the UT2004 Mega Bonus Pack - just in case anyone here remembers that.
So I just handed in my M.A. thesis a week ago, and realized that now I’d have to figure out what the hell to do with my life… and then I get this email. Signed up immediately, I guess I’m going to be a game developer after all! I’m pretty excited about this, y’all!
Hey all!
I’ve used UDK in the past, then switched to Unity, but now I’m pretty excited to tinker with UE4. I’m thinking of making something pretty basic, I dunno what yet though.
