Rough Masked Shadow

Hi, I’m having this issue where shadows from a masked object appear rough and jagged.

In my scene, the shadow is caused by the ring system of a planet. The issue only happens on one object, the ocean sphere. The ring shadows on the land seem fine.

I can’t figure out what is causing this on only this surface. The ocean material is actually opaque with default lighting. I’ve tried many of the lighting settings in the involved Static Meshes, materials, and light source (spot light).

What could be causing this? Any thoughts would be appreciated, thank you!

Off the top of my head, I think if you make the ocean translucent, you wont get the shadow. It is after all a PBR engine… :wink:
