Rect Lights - barns not working on static lights - ies profile not working

Hi,

I have noticed that Rect lights do not work properly when you assign a IES profile, it becomes a punctual light.

So I tried to emulate the effect using the barn angle and length but those options only work on stationary light but not static lights.

Notice in the picture the different results between the static and stationary lights and the same lights when using the IES (on the lights with IES profile I turn the barn length to 0).

Am I missing something? If not, can this be implemented for future versions of UE?

I noticed the same. In fact I think Barns never properly worked in CPU Lightmass (they do look like to work with GPU Lightmass though)

Maybe there are some alternative solutions to this problem. To preserve the IES profile and distribute it along the entire length of the rectangular light source.

Oh this is an old topic, at the end of 2024 we stop working with static lighting focusing only on dynamic lights thanks to the megalights. They still have limitations but since we work on fast projects it save us a lot of time preparing uv maps and baking lights.

So if there are better solutions we do not have it.

In any case, as in the old times we keep using ies with puntual lights and no for lineal lights. i those cases usually we just put a light, and hope no ones notes that it’s not perfect
