I +1 this for a sticky! I made one of these on the old UDK forums and got crucified for it, but I think it helps for organization and keeping things tidy.

Very usefull , i especially like this part :
If you’re a not registered company, you should skip this.
Don’t pretend to be something you are not.

Funny, I used yours as a reference.
I just thought if I put one up quick there was a better chance that it would take.
Time will tell.
Also, Epic - sticky please? :stuck_out_tongue:

You should beef it up a bit and make it more general. It could use a few sections too, like “Development Plan”, “Funding Strategies”, “Meet up Times and Dates”. That sort of stuff. Would you take some suggestions from me if I offered some? This can be used for good, to weed out all the “SERIOUS GAME HERE!!” posts from people who aren’t actually serious about developing a game.

Amen, Thanks for taking the initiative Kris =)

The one I created here is a mix of Arixsus’ post on UDK/CryDev forums, GameDev.net, polycount and other locations.
Quite happy to update, improve or outright replace if required.

That said, need to avoid superfluous additions.
ie. Do people really need to know the time a team meets up if they’re not part of that team?

It’d probably a good idea to update it based on usage.
eg. Most recruitment threads have screenshots, add a screenshot section to the template.

With any luck, Epic will take it over (hint hint).

Thank you Kris for this post. Let’s work to set a new standard for these forums.

Thanks for the template. Just used it.

No, people don’t need to know specific meetup times before even becoming part of that team. But I think it’s a good idea to have a section for it because it lets people know that there are team meetups. The reason I think it’s important to impart that information to potential recruits is because like 80% of people (at least on the UDK forums) vastly underestimate how much work and coordination is required to work in team to produce something as complex as a game. This template you’re proposing, it should be used to scare off people who are only interested in half-assing their role on the team. I just wanna get rid of the “I’m the idea guy looking for talent!” posts. If I had it my way, I’d say you can’t recruit team members unless you have a 30 page GDD.

well im gunna start another thread and post my own proposal for a recruitment template. i may be a **** micromanager, but personally I’d like to see higher standards on the UE4 forums then what I’ve seen on the UDK forums.

I’d suggest just posting it here:

  • Keeps them all central.
  • Easier for everyone to discuss.
  • Makes the topic more visible.

Good deal! Yeah, I was going to put more work into the one on the old UDK forums but for some reason the community over there got really grouchy so I gave up. Hopefully we can keep this new forum more professional then the old one, but as you said only time will tell.

It seems as though people are posting quite a bit of ‘Ideas’ and not enough actual recruitment. I would recommend adding to the template and making it a rule of thumb, that at the very least some progress needs to be shown. This will minimize the amount of ‘Ideas guys’ and will promote better recruitment.

Yeah it’s better to have an actual project with some decent prototyping at best, or some cool concept art to show off the game…Something that makes you want to join :stuck_out_tongue:

Hmmm…So that’s why i’ve seen this format in so many places.

It has come up in a few discussions, so I added a clarification on what [PAID] is in relation to crowdfunding:
**Crowdfunding (e.g. Kickstarter, Indiegogo) doesn’t count as [PAID]
unless you have received funds from a successful campaign.
**
Basically put, unless you have funds available at the time of posting, it doesn’t count as [PAID] work.

Again, be honest.

^ +1 to this. Good thread here, no idea why it’s getting those silly stars next to it!

I try to lead all newer recruitment threads that need help to this link.
