PSO precache diagnostic improvement

Hello EPS!

We added runtime PSO diagnostics and are checking to see if you’re interested in an upstream. Here’s the pull request: https://github.com/EpicGames/UnrealEngine/pull/15218

Here’s a brief description:

  • Track material names associated with missed and late PSO precache validation results.
  • Track PSO precache request counts per material and export them to CSV.
  • Expose separate previous-frame graphics and compute PSO miss counts through PipelineStateCache.

Usage:

  • added r.PSOPrecache.DumpCountsPerMaterial, which writes the collected data to a timestamped CSV under Saved/PSOPrecacheStats. Used by artist & engineers to analyze what’s loaded at any part of the game
  • exposed API for material names and more detailed miss information which can be routed into our own telemetry. Useful in collecting misses across team wide playtests.

Impact:

Makes PSO issues easier to identify without requiring an Unreal Insights trace and helps teams locate affected materials more quickly.

Would Epic be interested in accepting these changes upstream?

Hi Joyce,

Thanks for sending over this PR. The changes look sensible, so I will forward the review to the main dev on the PSO precache system, who can comment and decide whether we will ultimately take these changes. If you have any questions in the meantime, please let me know.

Cheers,

Tim
