Hello
We are creating a «TrinityMS» game using Unreal Engine 4.21 with GameWorks from Olento.
We met a problem that HairWorks reflect light from point light. The hair makes everything around it much lighter when there is a point light.
The problem doesn’t exist in UE4.19. But for creating the game we need to use UE 4.21 (or later) that makes hair to light.
From what I can tell that is the proper method to start having this issue looked into. Nvidia Hairworks is not managed by Epic and reaching out to Nvidia on their recommended channels is the best way to get this issue addressed
we are finding that we don’t have the bandwidth on my team to keep abreast with the rapid pace of UE4 development across all our GameWorks technologies. For this reason I am glad when community contributors like Olento are able to take over this work. However we are unable to provide support for the updates he makes to our integrations.
We had as you say a working integration, but then Epic made a number of changes (on the engine side), and then Olento made more changes. Following all that it is not easy for me to find the reason why it no longer works. It would be easier if a clean and stable plugin API existed but integrations like that of HairWorks rendering cannot be done in such a simple way.
Going forward we will need to change GameWorks integrations to use a different, more easy to maintain approach.
