Character

Steps to Reproduce

Players will randomly start to get this after 5-10 min of gameplay. It’s not consistent.

Expected Result

Player movement should remain fluid and behave normal.

Observed Result

On a new map we are testing players will randomly start to get movement that is glitchy/staggering. It almost feels like the movement drops to 5 fps or something. When this happens the player cannot use any items or use glider redeploy. If they get eliminated and respawn it goes back to normal and also sometimes the player can get it to go back to normal by having someone slide into them or by trying to jump and move over and over but not always.

We cannot figure out what is causing this issue. It does not happen to all players. It never happens at the start of the game. We are using up to 90 NPCs that don’t walk in the map. We are also using about 15 different mutator zones to control movement for the players. We have not seen any correlation to the zones or the NPCs and the movement glitching. The glitch does appear to happen more so after the players either are moving or jumping / mantling. We are not using any player movement devices.

If anyone has had similar problems or suggestions, we’d love to know!

Additional Notes

We also noticed that after 5-10min the NPCs will start to spawn in very slowly. About twice as slow as they normally do. Again, it’s not consistent, once they spawn in slow it might happen every few rounds but not every time. We have not noticed a link between the player glitch and the slow NPC spawns but we’re not ruling it out.

We have tested with players on different consoles and PC. It can happen to them all at different times. I know that this is one of those things that will be hard to nail down. It’s been really hard to test and troubleshoot for us because it never happens at the start and we never know when it will start to happen. Sometimes we think we fixed it and then it will just start to happen after a while.

I’m just hoping other people have experienced something similar and might have a suggestion.

The status of FORT-1044397 changed to ‘Needs Triage’. We’ve confirmed the issue and it’s waiting to be assigned to someone to fix it.

Wow, that’s awesome. We were just wondering if this was a known issue already? I was worried this report would be too vague to really help.
