Performance difference from using Oculus source build vs binary version for Oculus Quest use?

Is there a significant increase in performance when you use the Oculus source build (4.26/27)? My Oculus Quest game is very well optimised and most of the time hits the ideal framerate but there are some moments it stutters, I’m not sure there’s much else I can do to improve performance other than the try the Oculus source build to get better results

The answer is: Yes!

Oculus recently ported the OG tech demo ‘Showdown’ to the Quest and wrote some . articles about it.

Specifically ASW: “[The Oculus Fork] includes AppSW and the mobile tonemap subpass. These features have not been upstreamed to Epic’s repo at the time of this post’s publication” (May 6, 2022)

If your stutters are a result of firing off a new particle effect or looking at a certain texture/material for the first time then Oculus fork may not help. (look into PSO Caching)
