Path Tracer not working on 2023.1 Preview 2.

It says I need DirectX 12 enabled to use it, but it won't enable. I also have an RTX 3060. Even after restarting, it doesn't enable after turning on DirectX 12 in preferences. I also have DirectX 12, so why doesn't it enable? Is this a bug or new update?

Hello ,

After investigation by our team, we have found that this issue seems to be caused by using an older version of Windows 10. As we moved to Unreal Engine 5.1, the Windows OS system requirements were updated to require Windows 10 64-bit version 1909 revision .1350 or higher, or versions 2004 and 20H2 revision .789 or higher. Please use Windows Update to update your OS, which should resolve this issue.

If updating Windows does not resolve the issue, please submit a bug report here and share a copy of your Twinmotion.log files (Where to find Twinmotion .log file) so we can continue investigating this issue.

Please let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Thank you. And yes, I have an old version of windows.

Raghib:

My system has windows 11 with all updates. Video card has all its updates and is directX 12 and meets all requirements and still Path Trace not working.

can path tracer run with Quadro P4200 card in 2023 version?

thank you

the path tracer is not working on my notebook, I have directx12 activated, NVIDIA MX330 card, available memory, but the option to enable it within the program does not appear, how to proceed?

I am also having a similar issue. We work on Virtual Machines which all have dedicated RTXA4000 Graphics Cards 16GB Vram. Path tracer option greyed out suggesting DX12 needs enabling. DX12 is enabled. Path Tracer worked fine in the 2022 build.

Hi

Does the 2023 version have any special requirements for graphics card, RAM? I have RTX3070 8GB VRAM and 16GB RAM. Statistic all time is OK. Newer more as 80% memory is used. I'm having weird TM behavior (see my threads) Can you see it? Thanks and best regards.

Thanks Raghib

Hi ,

Which video card are you using? If it is not an NVIDIA RTX graphics card, or an AMD Radeon RX 6000 series card or newer, then it won't be able to run Path Tracer in Twinmotion 2023.1 or newer due to the increased system requirements. Non-RTX NVIDIA cards can still run it in Twinmotion 2022.

Raghib:

I have a nvidia RTX A5000 video card with 8gb. that is directX 12.

Hi ,

Thanks. Your graphics card should be compatible with Path Tracer.

Since it is not working, could you please submit a bug report here and upload a copy of your computer's DxDiag report and the latest copy of your Twinmotion.log file (Where to find Twinmotion .log file)? This can help us figure out what may be going wrong.

I ran the Dxdiag and my suspicion is the card needs more ram. I’m going to upgrade my workstation with a more powerful card and not use my laptop for rendering. Using it for placing materials and items the laptop fans are screaming and it gets real hot. So thanks

Does NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1660 OC, 6GB 192-bit works for twinmotion 2023?

Hi ,

That graphics card does not support Path Tracer in Twinmotion 2023. GTX cards only support Path Tracer in Twinmotion 2022. For Twinmotion 2023, you will need an RTX card from NVIDIA or an AMD Radeon RX 6000 series or newer.

Yes it's strange. in the version 2022 I'm calmly using GTX1080 for rendering with ray retracing. in 2023 I can't use it anymore. although it's more convenient and pleasant to work on a scene in the version 2023. strange decision by the developers to artificially limit the supported graphics cards architecture Pascal. i'm somehow very saddened. but nothing. soon i will make an upgrade to two graphics cards RTX4090 and will enjoy.

Hi ,

The Quadro P-series of graphics card runs on another GPU architecture that doesn't have native hardware accelerated raytracing so it cannot use Path Tracer in Twinmotion 2023. It will only work for Twinmotion 2022.

Best,

Raghib

Hi ,

The NVIDIA MX330 graphics card does not support raytracing, so it cannot utilize Path Tracer. You would need to upgrade to a graphics card that supports native hardware accelerated raytracing to use Path Tracer.

Raghib

Hello ,

The RTX A40000 should be compatible with Path Tracer on any version of Twinmotion. If it isn't being recognized, one possible reason may be due to an older version of Windows of the VMs you are running. If you are on Windows 10, you need Windows 10 64-bit version 1909 revision .1350 or higher, or versions 2004 and 20H2 revision .789 or higher.

If you are on that version of Windows or a newer version, please submit a bug report at https://twinmotionhelp.epicgames.com/s/case-community-page and include a copy of the log files from Twinmotion (https://twinmotionhelp.epicgames.com/s/article/Where-to-find-Twinmotion-log-file)

I changed my video card to a more powerful one with sufficient ram. (12gb). Is there a way or setting to increase the speed of exporting regardless the size of the model. With the new card I've been getting amazing results. I broke apart my model by floor in order to open, but can't get the entire model to open. Need a solid work around because I've got a deadline to meet.
