Particles not showing in Viewport

So I am using Cascade to look at some of the particle system that come with the starter content. However, I cannot see any of them when the view mode is Lit.

When I change the view mode to either Wireframe, Unlit, or Shader Complexity, I am able to see the effects. I have no idea why this is happening and would like some help in figuring out the reason behind this potential visual bug

Hi ProfessorBamboo -

It is likely that the light in Cascade’s viewport has been accidently moved, so what I would recommend is opening a Particle System, then selecting an emitter. Once selected in the viewport press F to center the viewport on that emitter. Then hold the “L” key down and rotate the mouse in the viewport, this should move the viewport’s light around and hopefully be able to see the emitter again.

Thank You

Hello

I tried what you suggested multiple times, but it seems that it had no effect on the scene. Do you know if there is a way to set the light to it’s original, default position?

I also tried creating a new project but I encountered the same problem. Do you know of any other possible reasons as to why I am having this problem?

Hi -

Sorry for the delay. Can you post a screenshot of your Cascade setup showing your modules and the viewport?

Thank You

I’ve included all 4 view modes to show what “should” be seen in the viewport and what I am not seeing in the “Lit” view mode.

What is your Material, Unlit, Additive, Default Lit, Translucent? Also check to make sure that you have not turned off Post Process in the View DropDown of Cascade.

Thank You

So I tried to make a Mesh emitter and I noticed when putting in my mesh, I could see the mesh, but it was really dark. I zoomed out a little bit and was soon able to fully see the mesh. Does this mean that the light is in a different position than it should be?

Yes and it probably means that your initial size for your mesh is also much larger than the typical sprite. For instance is your mesh is a cube that is 100x100x100 units (cm) and the default INitial Size is 25,25,25 that means that your mesh in the emitter is rendering at 2500,2500,2500.

If you use SunSky plugin and have a sunsky asset in your outliner, particles won’t work for some reason. This is default in a archviz template. I found this out the hard way… :_(

Phezanator Bro You are Saviour

In my case i had “Post Process Material” in “Post Process Volume” which were causing particles to not render properly.

And i got it fixed with the post below.

Played around with “Blendable Location”
