I wonder how the RPG is coming along. :slightly_smiling_face:

@Material_10 My interpretation is ‘use assets for anything, but make no mention of Paragon or Paragon character names’ My colleague made a post that links to some more specifics.

Hi @Astrotronic,

Thank you for this answer, and thank you also @ighi for your question. I think most of us that we would like to do things in the “right, legal way” while using free assets from EPIC games we struggle to know if we could use them and how.

I do have a question also, of my own concerns about this matter:

I am working in a Lookdev tool done with UE5 (project based tool) where I need models to showcase the capabilities of it. I aim to sell the tool/project files at some point in the Unreal Marketplace, no model will be distributed in these files, but I do showcase Wraith from Paragon also in my first Demo video. I do credit the model as “Wraith - EPIC games” I wonder if this is ok, or I should not credit it in any manner, as I mention the character original name in the credits.

And finally, sorry… Another question of the rights of another IP from EPIC games, Fornite.

There are tons of models from Fornite to be downloaded from Sketchfab, and many Youtubers with , probably, monetized videos, that showcase them in their channels, sure you guys are already aware of this.

I do have plenty of them, and use them during the development of the tool in the same manner, showcase no distribution. I wonder if I could use them in future promos of the tool, and in that case, how should I credit them or not, or if is just completely forbidding to do this.

Thank you so much for any feedback on this important matter.

Hi El-Grajo,

It’s more like you can’t have a game/experience/contentpiece and mention Paragon/Paragon IP.

I can’t answer about fortnite, but to me it seems “less than legal”…

Hi Astrotronic,
So, I can show the models from Paragon, but do not credit them? That sounds so weird.

Still, good enough for me. I was just crediting them because I though it was the right thing to do.

In any case, thank you for your quick answer! :slightly_smiling_face:

As a rule of thumbs them, any EPIC free asset in the Unreal Marketplace, could be use safely without giving any credits to EPIC or EPIC IP and no using the original model name?

Thanks

Look to the Marketplace EULA for specifics.

But yeah, if you buy or are given marketplace assets, there is no requirement to credit them. But personally I think it’s cool to credit the marketplace packs you use, It gives a sense of transparency (what work did you create vs use) and is a good way of acknowledging the marketplace creators.

I do prefer also to credit as much as I can as a way to thank the creators of the content.
But if it is more safe not to credit… I guess I will go with that for the next time, and avoid headaches, about some specific rules like the one for Paragon, and sure, my bad for not understanding well Wraith asset license that I read at some point. Is hard as an artist to understand well all this licensing rights :face_with_head_bandage:

Thanks for the Link and for your patience
