After the release of Fortnite OG, I’ve had the same issue with opening Fortnite and UEFN, where I get a notification telling me that my computer ran out of memory trying to open the game. The exact text reads,
Out of video memory trying to allocate a rendering resource. Make sure your video card has the minimum required memory, try lowering the resolution and/or closing other applications that are running. Exiting…
In Fortnite, I can fix this by setting my launch settings to directx11 (as opposed to directx12). This is annoying because I’ve been playing on directx12 since it came out and never had any issues until this new season, but at least I can open the game and play it.
In UEFN, I have no idea how to configure the launch settings to get it to open. This means I can’t work on any projects in any capacity. My computer has an RTX 3070 and has historically been able to run UEFN in 144Hz at 1440p, with an extra monitor running and multiple other apps running simultaneously.
Currently, even if i close every app and set my display to 800x600 at 60Hz, I still get this memory issue, which leads me to believe this is some sort of bug, especially since it’s happening with Fortnite too.
Any suggestions?
