Normal - UEFN - Editor froze first time I opened it in 24.00

I got a popup that verse needed to be rebuilt, I closed it, then editor froze and I can only Alt +f4

Thanks for the report. We did find that bug with that dialog, but only after the build went out. It should be fixed in the next release. I believe it’s only the ‘X’ to close out the dialog that causes this behavior. ‘Continue’ should let you through.

However, it’s really dangerous to ignore this warning. If you continue through to your level without fixing the Verse build errors, we won’t be able to load the devices in your level in the editor. If you then save in this state, you’ll lose all the data about your placed verse classes and their properties.

So we highly recommend fixing all the Verse compile errors and then entirely re-opening your project before doing any work.

I am not the programmer of the team though, so I am just locked then until my team member fixes it? I feel there should be a failsafe there so that can never happen.

The next release has a mechanism that can recover some data if you continue on and keep working through these errors, however it’s not foolproof and not recommended to rely on it.

This is not our desired end-state, we’re planning to make it so that this can’t cause data loss. So 100% agreed on the need for a failsafe here.
