Noisy Lumen scene

Hi Everyone!
I’m facing this issue in my scene, i’m using UE5.1. I cannot understand why, i tampered with all the settings in the postprocess volume to fix this huge noise, i increased the cards number in the static mesh settings, i tried to delete and reposition the postprocess volume with all settings to defaults, i tried to deactivate the lumen project settings and re-enable it.

One thing to consider maybe this project has been converted multiple times from engine revision to another, so basically i started this project in UE 4.25 and it has been through to:

4.25 → 4.36 → 5.0 preview 1 → 5.0 preview 2 → 5.0 final → 5.1

All models and textures are made by me so maybe something to consider there?

Any ideas?

Also i tried searching for this issue on the web and i couldn’t find someone facing this amount of noise in the lumen scene.

It looks like it’s probably still using lightmaps, so you would need to check your project settings to make sure that Lumen is set up correctly and that it’s not set to use baked lighting. Since you have migrated the project from way back to 4.25 you may want to start with a fresh project in 5.1 and then copy your stuff to the new project. Depending on how complex your project is that might not be an easy task though

Many thanks Darthviper107, but unfortunately it seems like the project settings are correct, based on the documentation page of ue5.1, however i took a screenshot of my project settings and the lumen scene resulting. Still the issue is present.

A thing i maybe better specify is that this noise is not static, is changing constantly and it behaves like a video noise from cheap cameras when the scene is dark.
Also this room has almost all indirect light

Another thing, i also have a huge amount of reflection noise on metallic surfaces, basically all from the skylight. Maybe the issues are related

Up , nobody has an idea?

There isn’t really anything to say, this is just what the Lumen scene looks like in indirect light.

You can increase the Lumen Scene Lighting Quality in your post process volume, but it won’t help much

Noise is definitely normal in the lumen scene view. Rough metallic surfaces tend to be pretty noisy even outside of the lumen views. I’d suggest currently avoiding lumen for interior environments that aren’t getting a lot of sunlight through windows if noise isn’t acceptable.

Thanks everybody, i had the feeling this was something not fixable without changing the lighting, so thanks for the reply. I will try to change it in a way it reduces the huge amount of noise i’m getting, or consider using the baked lighting.

Thanks
